Angry Messages Dropping off bottom of Inbox

A customer wishes to keep certain emails on his Blackberry indefinitely. He prefers messages never be purged from the phone.
I’ve made a custom IT Policy and set “Keep Message Duration” and “Keep Saved Message Duration” to -1. However the customer reports messages are still dropping off the bottom of the list.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? The policy is being applied to the phone, for sure.

I know about "Save" a message, but this customer would prefer not to do that.

The settings are in BlackBerry Manager > IT Policies > CMIME Application Policy
BES Professional Express 4.1.4.3

Changing the IT policy setting and pushing the new policy to the handheld may not actually adjust the setting on the device itself.
As a general rule of thumb, you can force changes on the handheld only if they are MORE restrictive than the current setting.

What is the current setting on the handheld right now? Even though you set it to "Forever" in the policy, the device may still be showing "X days" and will need to be manually adjusted by the user.

Also, check the free device memory on the handheld to make sure messages aren't being auto-purged due to low memory.

Sure enough, on the handheld it was 30 Days. We manually adjusted it. Thanks!

just remember if he runs out of memory it will start to purge old data. Some devices have a tendency to compleletly purge all data. So If that is what he wants I recommend having him do a back up every week or so on his desktop. Not very efficient I know, but better than having them yell at you when the device memory craps on you.

It wasn't a memory issue.
