Default how is the storm 2 folk ?

Please Login to Remove!

I need to give my 9700 to my wife and have been offered a good deal on a 9520.

Is this a significant upgrade from the storm 1 ?

I am attracted because I like the idea of a big screen, and receive much more emails then I actually answer (say only 5-10) - so I only need the keyboard a bit.

anyone any general thoughts

anyone migrated from bold and then used storm 2 ?

many thanks

I migrated from a Pearl to the Storm2 and I LOVE it. The bigger screen is much better for reading emails, viewing pictures, using the media player, etc. I use the Portrait, SureType keyboard and even with my large fingers I can type very fast and accurate. I like the SurePress screen because I need the "feedback" it provides. I typed on a friends iPhone and just did not enjoy it as much. There are a couple small glitches in the O/S (I still use the original .320 in 9550) but for the most part it is a terrific phone.

I never had a Bold before but I can tell you that after you get used to the keyboard (couple of weeks) you will love the typing on this thing. It is faster than any other BB keyboard I've tried.

The Storm2 is great... love it.

As with any, I would recommend dropping in a store one day and using the device to see how it fits your personal preferences.

Yeah I originally bought the first Storm and it was a piece of junk. This one however is awesome. Fast typing, great screen, and big fun factor. You won't be bummed.

i went.....curve > storm 1 > tour > storm 2

once you have a bigger screen you cant go back. the typing on the storm1 was horrific but the storm2 is very decent. i hated the typing on the storm1 from day one but this storm2 is staying around till the a storm3 comes out. i like this one a lot.

hope that makes sense.

Pluses - Typing, big screen, relatively quick with OS 436(iphone still faster), email, sms ,wifi, build quality, touchscreen way way better than storm 1
Minuses - sloooow browser (like all BB), lack of decent apps, BBmaps,no proper GPS software for Australia, sticking call and end keys on some phones (recent builds better)

My wife acquired a storm 2-her 9530 took a swim.

In comparison, the Storm 2 is a good improvement over the Storm 1. One piece screen vs buttons, wifi, and 16gb card. The back seems harder to remove. (use quickpull to resolve)

It's an awesome phone. I moved from the much hyped Bold to my Storm 9550, and I'm loving it!

I thought the bold and storms had the same size screen. just that the bold is landscape with a keyboard under it

That its incorrect

The Bold has a 2.75 inch diagonally and a 480x320 pixels of Resolution

The Bold2 has a 2.44" and 480x360

The Storm/2 has a 3.25" and 480x360

The most fun I have had with a Blackberry the bigger screen is incredible, I love the surepress with suretype screen, came from a pearl.

Be sure to try out the Drivesafely app freemium app. I use the free version it reads from/subject and message of email and text messages up to 25 words with the free version. You can buy it to release more options but for me when driving my curiosity would make me look at the phone but with this app it tells me enough information so I don't need to look at it.

What is everyone's experience with the build quality of the screen? Played with one in a store and it seemed like it was extremely loose and moved around. Maybe it was just bad design quality since it was a dummy phone.

It had to be the dummy phone that was "loose". The screen is top notch and not loose at all.

My screen is very tight. I also made a little research because I was worry about the sensors breaking due to wear, since I thought it would be like having 4 buttons under the screen but the piezo electric sensors works for billions of press without wearing
