We are currently Beta Testing a tethering application which is faster, no connection limits and other benefits.

The feedback we are getting on CrackBerry is unbelievable, so we thought the community here might like to try it out as well.

Please note we currently do not support Macs (although some users have had success on Parallels and VM Ware). We are working hard to support Mac systems but at this time, we don't!

I tried it on my Bell Storm, and checked my un-billed usage. SO FAR no additional costs. The usage was part of my bundle. Good job!

OK so what does this product really do im a bit confused.

Does it allow for internet conection through your home ip address so your not using bandwithd on your actual BB. I have read some info and still not really sure thanks.

Quincar, our product allows you to funnel internet from your BB to your Laptop. That means you can get internet anywhere you can get a cell phone reception. This is entirely possible with your current BB, but you will incur tethering fees and it is difficult to setup. You should review your carriers contract to ensure you are allowed using our product and to understand data limitations. Most unlimited packages are really limited to 5 GB.

Incredible application! It worked on the very first try, using a vzw Curve and a Dell XP laptop. Simple web browsing for over an hour has used less than 20MB. Speed is about 250k down and 115k up. Not blazing, but great for blogging on a 15" screen on the go.

No plans for a linux version at this time, but people have successfully used it on "wine".

Tetherberry is now production and for me well worth the one time cost of $39.99. Verizon has stated if you go over 5 GB in your BIS plan (BES is Unlimited, the $45/month plan) then they can search for what you have done and charge you extra and may even limit how much bandwidth you are allowed. It is in there terms for BlackBerry Data.

When using this software, they from TetherBerry and I strongly encourage you read about what your plan limits and what is your current plan, because you may be charged extra for doing so.

Otherwise, this is an absolute great application I'm able to work every where now, even use my Corp VPN and RDP! For me it is well worth the one time cost I was on BES and dropped to BIS, to save monthly $$, now that I have TetherBerry I might just witch back to BES just to cover my base with data usage!

Actually even the BES $45 plan also is affected by the softcap 5GB FYI, either way, this is a better alternative than to be charged $15 a month on top of your bill to tether your BlackBerry ($180 a year) from your phone bill

Where are these specific Terms and Conditions? The description of the $29.95 Blackberry Data and Email service on the Verizon web site says "unlimited" data.

I downloaded the beta version over the weekend to use on my Bold 9000, OS 4.6.0.241, AT&T. My TCP/IP settings have "APN Settings Enabled" turned on, APN set to "wap.cingular", "APN Authentication Enabled" turned on, Username for APN set to "WAPW@CINGULARPRS.COM" and the password is there (I think it's CINGULAR1). My laptop is a Dell Latitude D620 running XP. I loaded the 32 bit version, and everything seems to execute on both devices (and the network connection link shows on my laptop). However, I was not able to get to the internet. It's just as if my laptop is not connected. I'd be interested in purchasing this if I can be sure it will work. Also, since AT&T charges for its own tethering service, will I incur additional charges for this over and above my unlimited data plan with the carrier?

That's a good question, and it may depend on the carrier. Here's a direct quote from AT&T's terms and conditions regarding the unlimited data plan for Blackberry: "(P)lans(unless specifically designated for tethering usage) cannot be used for any applications that tether the device (through use of, including without limitation, connection kits, other phone/PDA-to computer accessories, Bluetooth® or any other wireless technology) to Personal Computers (including without limitation, laptops), or other equipment for any purpose."

It sounds like Tetherberry is not permissible. Do others have a different perspective?

Not permissible on Sprint, either.

Taken from the Terms and Conditions of their "Everything" plans:

"Except with Phone-as-Modem plans, you may not use a phone (including a Bluetooth phone) as a modem in connection with a computer, PDA, or similar device. We reserve the right to deny or terminate service without notice for any misuse or any use that adversely affects network performance."

The "Phone-as-Modem" plan they mention is a separate add-on tethering service, the price of which may be fairly high as it is not openly listed on their website.

Very neat idea and if this was around 18 months ago I would have taken it. Now, I use a £15 per month 3G usb stick, so for £29 per month I have unlimited BB use and 5gb mobile broadband. Weigh that up against getting over charged for extra BB useage and I know which I would stick with.
