Question Bold keeps on going into SOS - Replaced SIM and made sure it is secured - PLS HELP

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

My recently purchased BOLD keeps on going into SOS mode, I replaced the SIM with a NEW unit, made sure it was securely in place but nothing.
I installed the new OS but the problem is still there.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure the unit is unlocked for use with your carrier?

If you go into Options > Advanced Options > SIM Card and then type m e p d
what does it read next to Network?

It is "factory unlocked from Europe"
No carrier logos or anything, came a sealed Blackberry box.
Sometimes it works fine and out of the blue it goes into SOS mode.
I bought 2 of them and the other one is working just fine.

I am having the same problem. I have an unlocked Roger phone. I kept turning on anff the mobile network and that worked for a while. I noticed that when I turned it on it cycled through the networks, gsm, edge, 3g and then into the SOS mode. I was not getting any 3G service anyway so I changed the mobile network from 2g&3g to just 2G and the sos stopped. Maybe when the 3g is more available where I am I will go back. Don't know if this is the real reason but so far so good. Good luck

With the announcement from RIM and AT&T saying they are still testing AT&T's network before releasing the BOLD in the USA it would only make sense that AT&T's network still isn't 100% ready to accept the BOLD full-time yet.

Two people here in the office have BOLDs, yes I am in Canada on the Rogers network, they don't have any problems with their BOLDs locally only when they go to the USA on business.

It's unlocked... but it sounds like your device is broken.
If it's not reading any SIM cards, and you know the cards are good... then you have a serious problem with the Bold.

if it says No valid sim card, then its not reading your sim card. Try another active sim card your blackberry locked to. If you have the unlock code

try punching it againg from , option , advanced option, slect sim card, hold
alt key and type mep2 , a window will come up to enter network code and press enter. message should come to code accepted.

then turn the radio off and turn on again ,, let me know

It's already unlocked.
See above:

Network = Disabled. That means it's unlocked.

The phone is unlocked from factory, it was nerver locked to an specific carrier.
Ive handled 7 Bolds so far this week and mine was the only one that came with that problem.
I guess is just bad luck, I tried to contact RIM/Blaccberry (18772552377) but they will not give you support unless you pay them (which I find pretty crappy).
I returned the Bold to the placed were I got it, the new Bold I got is working fine...for now.
Thanks everyone for their input.

I had a similar issue with an unlocked Bold from Rogers. I tried multiple SIMs but no luck. I ended up returning it and got a new Bold from Rogers, unlocked that one as well, and no issues ever since. Might have to return your unit.

sorry soupandsandwich, we are talking 2 different things

you meant going into sim card checking network by mepd and checking all status
I was saying going into sim card it will show right on type disabled if your phone is unlocked and it will show disabled.
