Default Mapquest Nav is $9.99 for at&t customers!?

Please Login to Remove!

So after trying garmin and mapquest i was going to purchase mapquest for the $50 / year promo. The promo EXCLUDES AT&T! I found this out when i tried hitting subscribe; it added $9.99 to my monthly bill. I quickly called at&t to take it off my plan figuring i needed to grab it and subscribe with mapquest directly. There is an * on the $50 pricing saying not valid for at&t subscribers :(. This is something I'd expect from verizon, I am very upset with at&t right now. Unless there is a work around ? I will pay the $50 / year but not paying them more then double becuase at&t needs a cut. Advice?

Yes-this is new. When I had my curve, I did get it for 50/year. I do believe I liked it better than TeleNav

Default garmin

I have ATT and joined blackberry owners lounge/ they offer a 20% discount
also keep an eye on handmark, they recently had a 30 % off sale, bringingthe garmin down to a reasonable price.btw, it works great on my bold.

Anyone know if it is feasible to buy the $49 annual subscription for Rogers, and use it on an AT&T Bold. Just upgraded from the 8800 where I had Mapquest Navigator on there (subscription had recently expired). Didn't know it was going to cost me another $10 per month.

You CAN get mapquest at the 50/year rate if you just select any other phone andp purchase it. Or at least I did with my curve on ATT. I just selected the curve from sprint and bought it and then downloaded it. done, 50 and ready for the year. nots ure if that is how it would work on Bold though, although I am going to try it.

I'm going to try the Cure/Sprint deal for my BB Bold. I'll let you all know if it works. If not, I'll just cancel within the 7-day trial...

All - make sure you check out the sticky at the top of the GPS & Mapping section for reviews of most of the various map applications. Also please post your GPS and map questions in that section.

Thanks

Works fine from what I can tell...signed up using Sprint and the Curve. Got the activation SMS, downloaded the app (identified my phone as the Bold). Installed, activated, and all seems well. My receipt says $49 for the year, so I certainly hope I'm not charged double.

I noticed this strange stuff too.

My GF has Mapquest Nav on her ATT 8310. It's up for renewal like soon, July I think.

We got it when it was $49.99 for a year. Checked a website a while back, and didn't notice this price for AT&T. I know they are going to automatically renew it with the card on file. I hope it's an expected $49.99 and not $120!

I just ordered choosing rogers and the bold. Took my CC info got the $50 plan for the year and they sent my activation code. I am sure mapquest doesn't care and welcomes this method as AT&T just marks it up and keeps the profit i am sure. Anyway I am happy so long as nothing pops up on my bill and I can keep my subscription. Glad i didn't have to go for a stand alone unit. As many of you I am all for a fully converged device! Now i have my navi, mp3 player, email, and phone! the bold does a great job at all of them as well. I find the battery life decent (i don't talk much on it though)

Wirelessly posted

I like Mapquest so far but sometimes the routing is terrible. At $50 it's worth it. If nothing else, I feel good about successfully dodging ATT's attempt to rifle $50 more from my wallet. I win.
