Default homemade mail server and BIS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've set up my own mail server at home and wished to set my email account on the blackberry.
I've registered the account and the BIS told me that it was ready to work.
I can send emails through the account but i don't receive anything on th blackberry.
Is there anything special to do to make the push mail work?

Is it possible, you get your mail at home using a client which frequently polls the mailbox with the pop3 protocol ?
(Most emailsoftware will delete all mail from the servers mailbox after a sucessful download to the client)
If this is the case, switch to imap, or, set the email client to leave the mail on the server for XX ( 30 is a good value) days.

Is the mail downloading to a PC email client? Perhaps if tha is the case, it is deleted from the server before it has time to get polled by RIM and pushed to the BB.
To prevent this, edit the email account setup on your PC to "leave mail on server".

can you see the rim emailserver connecting in the logs ?
if you have a linux box, check the /var/log/mail.log or similar files

ok it's fixed. the configuration in the BIS was not good. I've modified that and my firewall and now it's ok.
