The crop seems to come down to four, at least for now. The press is saying Palin, Jindal, Huckabee, and Romney. Who do you like? Of these, who do you not like? Who else would you throw into the mix?

Its going to be a moderate in my opinion. I'm guessing Charlie Crist, although I used to like Mark Sanford.

Right. Should have thrown Crist in the mix. And I'm from FL. He's got a lot of popular support down here. And he's more of a centrist as far as how he governs. Seems to be fiscally conservative and socially moderate.

Crist is looking at Senate seat
I see him more as a running mate for someone.

I think Jindal will be a star in the future but the rebuttal this week did not help. I personally think Palin will not get the support from the party. I like Huckabee but think he is too extreme on a few things to get the party fully behind him. Romney I personally think is the best of the bunch and think he could get in there is the Republicans can get over the Mormon issue. To me I could see Romney, Crist & Jindal being front runners.

Come to think of it, test and koz, I do like Crist. He's done well here in FL. And yes, koz, he may well run for Martinez's Senate seat. If he does, he'll win.

I think though that if the candidate comes from the South like Crist or Jindal then they have to go elsewhere for the VP. Perhaps a western Gov. or midwest person but not another person from the South on the ticket.

I like Crist and Jindal as possibilities. I do think Crist might run for the USS first, possibly agains Jim Davis? We'll see.

Sanford is a possible also. He's on the circuit traveling to states now.

I feel like a dork on FL politics. Who is Jim Davis?

Edit: Just looked him up. Pretty impressive. Looks like he could easily fit in with the Blue Dogs. Although he gets an F from the NRA. And an additional positive, he has a degree from the University of Florida.

McColumn, the current Atty General, will run as well for Senate.

Back on topic, Maybe a Romney Crist ticket

I personally think the Republican nominee hasn't surfaced yet. Palin is done, blew it all in the loss to Obama/Biden. Huckabee would get the religious right and some middle of the road types and most likely carry the South (I actually considered voting for him in the NH primary) but can't win in the general election. Romney is too stiff, but he does understand the economic side of things. Maybe a good VP candidate, unless things are still in the tank. As for Jindal, I don't think we really know enough about him to make a decision one way or the other.

Maybe Rush will help us select the ones NOT to go with?

If Obama still has good numbers and is doing well by those who elected him, he will be hard to beat, no matter who runs. The GOP shot themselves in the foot and really has no rising star on which to hang their hopes.

Real issue is the economy and the perception that the Republicans voted in/out laws that should have prevented some of the things that have occured recently. Until it can be proven the the Democrats are worst then you can forget about a Republican president for the 8 to 12 years.

While some of you may disagree you should remember that Ken Lay of Enron was a top advisor to the Bush 2 mob until Enron unwound. This was corruption at the highest level with minimum punishment. If this first group of Enron crooks would have been severly punished then some of the current financial issues may not have happened.

For the record I am a conservative with libertarian leanings.

Our unemployment rate keeps sky rocketing. Its higher now than it was when the big O took office. He has done nothing for the people so far. More and more job losses daily. His spending is only going to sink us further and further. I think before the end of the year we will be closer and closer to a depression.

And you blame the high unemployment rate on Obama? Do you think his predecessors had even a little bit to do with it?
