I'm aware of that but I think you misunderstood the post. We are talking about adding text AFTER the normal number format, not text that is part of the number such as with your example.
Ex: "(123) 456-7890 (Bob's work number but don't call before 10am)"

If its on the line that says:
Mobile: 123-456-7890 (joes crab shop)
Work: 123-456-7890 (joes crab shop)
Home: 123-456-7890 (joes crab shop)
Then this is expected behavior. As JS says, you can try in this format, the "," (the comma) is the wait character:
Mobile: 123-456-7890, (joes crab shop)
The only reason that would work is the pause makes the phone system think you are done dialing the number and it starts to connect the call. Just like with a landline phone, once your call is ringing on the other end, even pressing more buttons does nothing. That would be why using the "," for the wait character would work. Well workaround i guess.
