Default Google Maps not working with IT Policy

Please Login to Remove!

We are unable to get Google Maps to work (it loads on the user's phone but doesnt update the maps or let them know where they are). When we disable the IT policy and stick them back to default policy, then there are no issues. Our procedure to setup the phone is to wipe it, enterprise activate it, download and install google maps from m.google.com/maps, run google maps to verify, then apply the it policy. Any ideas? Nobody in tech support at Blackberry seems to know what is causing this.

Thx

Do you have any apps disabled through the policy? What about GPS? If the issue only occurs when the policy is applied then the issue is the policy. Something in the policy is denying the application access to the internet. Start with the policy, check it piece by piece, comparing it to the working one. You'll find something is out of place.

Do you have the carrier browser disable in the IT Policy? If so, Google Maps won't work. I've found the only solution is to use Blackberry Maps (which my users do not like) or use VZNavigator.

Ok we found the problem for those that might find it useful. It was under the Service Exclusivity policy/Allow Other Browser Services. We had that set to False. Flipping it back to default fixed the issue. Thanks for the help guys, hope this helps others too.
