Folks,

I have a situation whereby a decommsioned BES server maybe re-enabled again. However the problem I have is that the BES server may be installed at a different site to the EXC server due to rack space issues at the Data Centre. The link between the data centre & site where the BES server is to be re-commissioned is a dedicated 4MB IP Clear circuit. Obviously this will create a time lag as normal config would have both EXC & BES on the same LAN.

Any opinions or experience re the above scenario would be gratefully received

As long as ping times do not exceed 50MS you shouldn't see any real issues. This is a MAPI limitation and not a BES limitation. Do you know or have any idea of what the ping times may be like?

Thanks for coming back gibson_hg. I'll ask a colleague to ping the Exchange server from the location where the BES server will probably be installed.

I've found over the years that 100ms delay doesn't have any discernable impact so we use that as our guideline.
