Default Latest OS: 8120 4.5.0.108/4.5.0.81 (English + East Asian languages)

Please Login to Remove!

From Vodafone, but will work on any 8120 from any carrier

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8120 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.108 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.108
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.81
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.78
  • File name: 8120EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel108_PL2.7.0.78_A4.5.0.81_ Voda_Australia.exe
  • File size: 79.22MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...19656875EE557C

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8120:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. If you need Desktop Manager download it here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device

Look at your device > Options > About. Third line down, what is your current OS version?

If it is not the above, you can upgrade as long as you follow the EXACT instructions above.

Hey, I understand eagerness, but do you understand patience? We are volunteers, and it is pretty obvious to me reading in my first post above ^^, that you would select the "BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8120 smartphone" option.

Which will get you the OS 4.5 download.

Good luck.

Yay, new 4.5 OS! Thanks for the link. The only thing that sucks about a new OS is not being able to use your BlackBerry for an hour while it loads.

umm anybody else having problems with rebooting? i just installed this os and couple hours into it it would randomly restart but i mostly noticed when i would unlock the keypad... i thought newer versions meant less bugs, but to me this is far worse than 4.5.0.61 or whatever was last because obviously repeatedly rebooting your phone is gonna get old quick when it takes like 5 minutes!

Thanks, Alph, fixed in the first post now. Odd happenings with those OS download links lately.

And I loved Alph, great stupid show.

I have the exact same problem. My 8120 randomly reboots every hour or so. I think there is something conflicting. Think I may have to downgrade.

can someone help point in to a direction on how to downgrade?

I gotta return a friends phone and it would be preferred if I could downgrade back to 4.2. I downloaded a 4.2OS software but am having troubles figuring out how to actually update the phone as I tried through desktop manager but it wasn't working.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Edit:

Nevermind..i forgot to uninstall the old OS...I figured it out!
