Default Blackberry Router Service High Availailability?

Please Login to Remove!

I currently one BES server BES01 implemented in my LAN servicing my Exchange 2003 infrastructure.

Now I am going to implement a second BES server BES02 and spread 50 percent of my users onto this to cope with failure etc

Question : Is the Blackberry Router Service installed on both BES01 and BES02, two instances running?

Question: If BES01 failed and I moved users across to BES02 would I have to worry about Blackberry Router Service?

Question: Also if I moved the Blackberry Router Service in the DMZ , if it failed in the DMZ ... would BES01 and BES02 would lose connectivity to devices etc?

Yes, each BES install has it's own Router Service.

No. BES users are not linked to any particular Router Service. If you move a user they keep their connection.

The Router does not connect to the devices, it connects to the BB NOC. But if both BES are pointed to a Router in the DMZ and it fails, then yes, they will lose their connection.

How would I provide high availability for this setup with just one Blackberry Router in the DMZ?

I have concerns about the service if the server in the DMZ has an issue.

When I have two BES servers in the LAN each running Blackberry router service , if one server has an issue. I can move the users to the other server and still not lose service.

Now my HA setup is much more complicated!!

thoughts?
