Default Hiding files

In the previous BB I owned you could make a file "hidden" when you opened its properties. Does anyone know how to do that in the z10?

Not many apologists left here. If you want excuses or "coming soon" there are other forums that are much better at that.

I'd be interested in knowing what you thought hiding files accomplished. There are a number of things that could be done with an application, but a developer would have to know what users thought they were getting.

In my opinion it isn't worth investing any time in replicating the feature the way it existed in pre BB10 versions. Many people used it to keep embarrassing, sensitive or private files from prying eyes. It really just isn't an adequate solution for that.

try to rename the file/folder and add a "." as the first character.

Does that actually work? That's a PC / OS X thing no?

It is (and was first) a Unix thing and has become a Posix thing. But like the original BlackBerry hidden files it doesn't really hide anything from software or people who know how to get around it.

So it comes back to why you want to hide the files. If it is to declutter a listing that's fine. If it is to hide something from kids, co-workers or spouses, you need to hope they haven't read Posix for Dummies.
