Default Aim, MSN ICQ and Yahoo from RIM

I see that the pearl has all of these programs installed on them by RIM. Now we can get yahoo already but is there dowloads of these programs from rim for the 8703 or other blackberrys?

The IM programs that came on your T-Mobile Pearl are the OZ Messenger program, which uses SMS intsead of data. RIM is still working on other IM's programs that use data, but so far has only released Yahoo Meseenger and Google Talk. There is also the separate BlackBerry Messenger that can be used for IM's between BlackBerry's.

Be very cautious using the OZ program if you don't have unlimited text messaging.

here's what I got. Is the "black berry un limited vison" at 39 bucks enough to use the 8100's ichat? Or do I need to add something else from the "upgrade your plan," options list? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question I just don't get it.

I had the pearl for about a week, (took it back only because of tmobil coverage, really liked the pearl and it's use of Ichat aim.) Got the Sprint 8703e and want to use the 8100's aim ichat software on there but don't want to get hosed on extra $$$$

The OZ Messenger is only provided on T-Mobile devices, you will not be able to use it on the 8703e. You can download Ramble IM if you are looking for a free AIM program, or there are several other good pay programs out there.

you have what you need for a third party program, if you are using a text base program you should have an unlimited text messaging plan

yes, if you are using a program that is made by OZ (OZ messenger), you are getting charged per message as a text

use ramble, yak-on, im+, verichat, or any of the other third party programs to use your data connection instead of your text

I thought Yak-On was the most reliable program in terms of disconnecting the least, but it reallllllly sucked the power out of my blackberry. I understand any app that constantly refreshes on the network will, but this one exceptionally so.

Yes, if you use the preloaded oz im program, you will be charged per sms if you don't have an unlimited sms plan.
