Default ETP.DAT email gets to inbox but stays forever, device wont activate.

Hello:

I am having the following problem, im trying to activate a 8320 on a BB Small Business Edition Server. I add the user to the BB Manager and set a password. On the device i start tye EA, the etp.dat email gets to the inbox but then stays there forever, and the device tells me contact network admin. I ran the IEMSTest.exe and it tells me test completed succesfully. I think the problem is in that BB is trying to access recipients/cn=john.....the user email is [email address], not [email address].

Anyone can please help me, is this whats causing the problem or should i look something else. Ive tried plenty of things and nothing. One other user is working perfectly fine.

Any help will be gratly appreciated.

Do you have other users on this BES?
Sounds like permissions to me, have you checked the BESAdmin account is set up correctly??

Also, I'd try deleting the accoutn totally from the BES, wait until it's processed and readd, that's always cleared a few activation issues for me.

This has happened to me in the past, while I never found a root cause I did get it to activate finally. Removed user from BES waited "a bit" then added them back in, defined a static mail agent (only for a day) removed all the etp messages from the inbox. start over, might not be a bad idea to reset the device also.

1) remove all the messages with etp.dat in the mailbox
2) verify proper permissions
3) remove and re-add the user to the BES

is the user a member of any special groups, such as Domain Admins?

After pressing Activate on the device, how long does it take for the "Contact system admin" meesage to appear?
If it's a few seconds, then the device is probably not provisioned for BES and you need to contact your supplier.
If it takes a few minutes or more, it's probably a permissions issue.

Also check any rules in the mailbox that might deny the message access to the the mailbox

This started as a trial, and that trial user is working perfectly fine, then additional CALs where bought. Im trying to add myself now (the one working account is the boss).

Checked all permissions on BESAdmin, removed user and re add to bes, wiped handheld, and still nothing...

Its weird though that the user in the "mailbox line" in bes is john, the alias for the user is john.d and the email address for the user shows as john.d_at_domain.com...also, the .dat email gets to my inbox and never leaves, but sometimes when i press activate on device it almost immediatly gives me error, but sometimes it tkaes a long while....

im thinking the alias setting is messed up...

im about to go crazy with this...

If it is for you and you are a domain admin, check to see that you have send as permission. It sounds like it is recieving the message fine, but it cant find the path back out. Check those first. Then remove and readd yourself to the server.
