BB Forum Rules
Please Login to Remove!
Happy New Year everyone.
Request clarification on this BB Forum's policy on how to post properly to any discussion forum. If you mistakenly forget your log in name and enter using a new name and note this to the moderators, is it normal to be "banned"?
When you mistakenly state something that you believe may help everyone and then your thread is closed without explanation, why isn't it kept open to benefit the membership who may be seeking knowledge on any part of the statement?
What are any policy's for posting to any Discussion Forum without impunity, seeking only knowledge for self and others, particularly new members, returning members and perhaps those members who knew what the rules were before but may have forgotten them?

I have searched for the BB Forum's policy on posting questions or statement to any Discussion Forum in the "Search Here First" after you log in and I did not find any information on this subject. Just seeking this information and could not find it.

As a privately owned and operated forum, the moderators have the right to do what they seem fit. Perhaps they should have banned all of your accounts? But then we couldn't benefit from your "research". Do I need to point back to those posts?

I've already done that in my initial posting in this thread. I'm not being nasty, just seeking knowledge on proper postings. I have used the "search first" engine next to your log in before I post but it hasn't listed responses to my titled queries.

1. Yes, that is normal. As I recall, you were given a choice of which of your login names to ban, and you chose.
2. Huh? Your thread on the way-outdated BBMessenger 5.0.0.55? It was just wrong, flat-out old, and basically a duplicate of others which were posted months ago. Your thread on turning your device off at night to save memory? Again, wrong. Why are spreading misinformation?
3. Ditto what NJ stated above. You can basically post a thread here on anything you want. If it is spam, it'll get deleted and you might get banned. If it's stupid or a duplicate thread, it might get deleted or closed, or it might be left open for the other members here to comment and discuss. The policy is no different for new, returning or veteran users.
If you have a question about something to post, feel free to post it, and send a private message to any moderator for clarification that it be moved or whatever.

Members are only allowed to have 1 username on this forum, so banning an alternate name is normal. Members who knowingly create multiple usernames, for the sake of having separate identities, are banned by IP.

When information is posted multiple times the forum gets chaotic and messy. Therefore we do the best we can with keeping multiple threads on a topic closed and the 'main' thread open. Members are encouraged to search for answers before posting a query, as well as search for a solution before posting a 'how-to', but it doesn't always happen.

This forum has been around for 5 years, with many long-time members making detailed 'how-to' posts (and we also have the FAQ site with answers, too). Search first, then ask/post.

**thread moved to the Forum News, Suggestions, Problems section**
...does the OP desire to discuss the policy on this?

I accept all of the comments provided re: my questions in the initial thread. I certainly understand not having two logins. It was an error on my part in creating another login to access BB Forums after having forgotten my original login.
My making a comment than BBs could save memory by turning them off at night was also an error only in that as pointed out, it saves the life of the battery. I thought a correction to my comment would have allowed others to continue to express re: saving the life of a BBs battery. The thread was closed without explanation.
Since my revisiting to BB Forums, I realize the advancements that have been made with the addition of numerous Forums since 2006 as well as an expanded FAQs link.
The "search" engine next to your my sign in has not been providing a search of all Forums or links you have. My suggestion is possibly to improve it. I do use your search engine and have posted accordingly. My pistakes have not been malicious or intentionally harmful. Humble pie!
As I continue to post, I'll attempt to post where appropriate.
I've been on other Forums where Netiquette was port of the overall policy for posting.
Knowledge for self and other is what I seek, not for self gratification.
Everyone have a most Blessed day and New Year!

Bob, you're trying to hard too make a name for yourself. I suggest you stop. You're not as knowledgeable as you think you are, and by continuing to stir the pot as you are, you hurt your credibility, lose any respect you may have had, and cause others to mistrust you.
So take a log off the fire and take some time to think about your future here.

I have never claimed to have a great deal of knowledge of the BB. I have researched its benefits and purchased it over my previous PDA the Treo. As long as I have it, I will learn all I can of its capabilities with the apps I have on it. I am not challenging anyone in the Forum and am not seeking any glory or attention from the Forum, just knowledge.

Bob, com' on man.
I don't see where anyone or moderator has thought your posts were malicious or intentionally harmful. Just accept the help that the very thoughtful users here are offering you. The one thread you're questioning now had no purpose: Of course turning your BlackBerry off at night saves battery.
If you go post a similar thread in some Automobile/Car enthusiasist forum "Hey guys, Just discovered: Turning off your car engine will save you gas!!!", don't you think that you'll get some odd looks?
Really, stay active in the community here. Read. Comment on threads. Make some friends.

Thank you. It's good to be here. I'm sure I'll learn as much as I can about BB, particularly my 9630 which I purchased last June. It's awesome!
All of your conversations have been accepted.
