Default Invalid SIM Card, New help :(

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I just received my 7100g off ebay. The seller is a power seller and says it is unlocked gsm phone.

I'm in canada and currently with Rogers, which is gsm. Anyways I popped in my SIM card and restarted my BB but it says invalid SIM card at the top.

I'm thinking I have to update my BB somehow or the off chance this isn't unlocked.

If it isn't unlocked can I unlock it myself or is there any work around. Right now i wanna use it as a PDA/Phone until i need it's email function.

Please help a newbie.

Much appriciated.

Rogers sells 7100g. Get to Rogers wireless store with your SIM card and your 7100g, and ask them WTF?

Cingular also sells the 7100g. Odds are good (since it came from eBay) that it is NOT unlocked. I guess you could ask Rogers WTF but I'm not sure what that would do...

Are you certain it's a Rogers 7100g not a Cinglar 7100g? Cingular devices no longer come unlocked. You can get it unlocked though someone like Bongo Wireless www.bongowireless.com I would suggest returning it to the seller as it was a mis-represented. You can try another Rogers SIM but seeing your getting th"Invalid SIM" message is a good indication it is locked.

Nope, it's not their phone nor is it subsidized by them so they could care less. You can try GSMPhonesource.com or bongowireless.com but your looking at $65-$125 to unlock it. Another reason to do your homework when purchasing BB from eBay.

I got it from a reasonable looking seller. I called rogers and they said to try another sim and i tried my bro's, same message. The person on the phone said since it's not asking for an unlock code that chances are it's not unlocked but i guess the evidence is there.
Here is the ebay auction itself:

Well as with most BB's on eBay you've been duped! If the seller is as reputable as you state they'll take it back. Only other options is to get it unlocked or your SOL.
