Default movie listings on 8700G?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a free way to at least get movie listings on my phone?
I have an analog dial-up number that I could use if I knew how?

What are the options? I have heard T-Zones can be made to work with these devices even though T-Mobile wan'ts to sell me the rediculously priced data plan. Is that the case? Can I get either t-zones or dial-up to work?

If my company allows me to access thier exchange services, will that give me the access I need for movies without additional fees?

Well.. if you get your browsers up and running, you could direct your browser to www.palm.moviefone.com.. then save it as a bookmark.

Like Stiles said, Berry411 is the easiest, fastest way to get movie listings. It is an OTA download

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I find the easiest way is to send a google text message. Just sms 46645. For example "Movie, Da Vinci Code, 64154". In no time you have all the theaters and showtimes. Easier than navigating different pages/theaters and works from any phone.

Go to movietickets.com, it takes 60 seconds to find what your looking for. Its blackberry friendly so the website is very clean and loads very fast.

It sounds like the OP is trying to get movie listings without a data plan. Does it sounds like this to anyone else?

If that's the case then I suggest a backup to their main plan. How about carrying the yellow pages in their back pocket so they can call the theater?

Default The Plan... The Plan...

The data plan or "method of access" is what i was refering to. On both Palm and Pocket PC, I can access the net with a dial-up modem inside the phone itself, or T-Zones which I still pay 5.95 per month for. The DATA plan we refer to is $19.99 per month in addition to my phone service. This just seems like an unbelievable rip-off to me. I was asking if I had any other options as all I want to do is pull up movie listings from time to time, which my friends can do from free phones in some cases. Why do I have to pay more just because I have an expensive phone? Doesn't anyone but me find this behavior a little suspicious?

Sounds like you didn't do your research before buying the BB. There were no hidden charges as this fact is one of the most answered questions. The BB is an email device with phone/data capabilities. You can't get email without the data plan so, no I don't find this suspicious.

It's like saying I bought a car but didn't realize they'd make me buy gas also.

We have a different opinion on that but am overall happy with the device. If there is "no way" to get t-zones to work on the phone even though the manual even says it's supported, then I will give up trying but I did want to try every available resource including whatever hack sites might be available for blackberry before I gave up entirely.

I love Yahoo's mobile portal - http://us.wap.yahoo.com/. Click the Movie link on the home page, find a movie playing in a theatre near you, and once you go to that theatre's page, bookmark it.

If you log in with your Yahoo ID, it will know where you're located, and integrate with all kinds of stuff - Mail, Messenger (funky web based, but works for free), Photos, Search, Games (funky web based), News, Finance including your portfolios, Weather, Maps (driving directions), Address Book and Calendar (both web based - not integrated with the Berry's).

And it's very thin (you can use lite graphics) and sizable fonts. Great Berry portal.

AND, to get listings AND ORDER Tickets, go to http://mobile.fandango.com/. You can't buy tickets for ALL theatres, but it's worth a shot. Works best if you already have an account set up on Fandango that way you don't have to enter a lot of info.

Yes I know a full YIM client is available for the Berry - just not for us Cingular victims!

J

I guess the question here is whether or not the OP can use just WAP for his data services. Since I have the BB BIS plan for my phone I have both WAP and the BB Browser which I can use. Does anyone know if you can use the t-zones plan just to surf WAP sites?

It seems like it should work since most phones can use the WAP and not just the BB.
