Default Alternate ways to get photos off this stupid phone

Please Login to Remove!

I tried Roxio Media manager and it gave me hell. Actually it won't even run on this computer. I installed BB Desktop Manager with Roxio on a new computer. Roxio won't run. Actually it says I'm using a high speed USB device on a low speed port. Makes me why don't the geniuses at Windows make it automatically work anyway..

So I installed BB Desktop Manager on someone's laptop. Nope, doesn't work.

Are there any other programs that can enable me to transfer pictures from my phone to a computer?

Are they on the BB it self or a media card.

It's on the BB itself. I remember somebody on the forums mentioning a program, but I forgot what thread it was nor can I find it using the search..

You can update the DM and use media sync, it now does pics. Or put in a media card transfer the pics to that and use mass storage mode, basically it's now a usb drive.

If only BB's software actually worked. I can't use media sync because when I try to install it, it says:

There was a problem opening the installation file: Blackberry Media Sync.msi.

The setup will now exit.

you could transfer the files to computer via bluetooth (if computer has bluetooth).
or, as zerog46 suggested, you could use file exporer in the bb to copy or move the files to you media card (assuming you have or can get a hold a media car).

If you're on a PC you can also try installing an older version of Desktop Manager which had a Media Manger developed by RIM before they started using Roxio.

Go to BlackBerry - PDA Software Downloads - Support & Services at BlackBerry.com
and download the following packages:
-Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 with Media Manager
-Blackberry USB and Modem Drivers

(You have to download the USB drivers because the drivers included with older version 4.2 of Desktop Manager don't include those for the 8900).

Moving forward, grab yourself a micro SD card so you can simply transfer files using Mass Storage Mode (works just like any other USB thumbdrive once you install the USB drivers).

Don't even get me started on that Roxio Media Manager... It nearly killed my computer.... Crashed windows everytime I rebooted so I couldn't even see my desktop icons (just my wall paper).... Now it won't uninstall.... WORST SOFTWARE EVER.

Just transfer the photos to the SD card that most likely was included with the phone(if not just purchase one, they are pretty cheap now a day), turn on Mass Storage mode, and plug in the USB cable and ur done.

actually don't even need to transfer to a card, do you? Not really sure where the confusion is, but plug phone into your computer, computer will read it as a mass storage device, click yes and then just navigate to that "removable drive" on your computer and you can browse through your entire phone.... pretty simple really. And, btw I'm not sure how that makes this a stupid phone...

Oh I agree completely, every time I've tried using it, it just eats up all the ram, and my PC takes a good 20 minutes just to operate.

The OP has an 8310 device with thier media stored on the *internal* memory. If I remember correctly, even with mass storage mode enabled, the internal memory on this type of device is not presented to the PC as a "removable drive".

So, he just needs to move the pictures (one by one) from the device mem to the Media Card... then use Mass Storage enabled to drag and drop the images to the PC.

Well now I'm really cornfused, sorry... his profile DOES say 8310, yes, but he posted in the 8900 forum and nowhere does he specify which device, so which phone is it? I just find it funny how seemingly the most basic of functions somehow make an inanimate object "stupid."

Lets get this straight:

- you dont know what blackberry you have?
- you dont know how to use the blackberry?
- you have no data plan?
- and your laptop is sh*gged?

get rid of the blackberry and laptop and go get a regular cellphone with limited features and a digital camera!

Problem solved!!!

Sorry for been so blunt, but easiest way sometimes!

Merry Xmas!

Do yourself a favor and check what section I posted this thread in.

The Roxio software is a very common problem with the Blackberry. So far, none of the above posts helped. Neither have you, anyway.
