Hey everyone, I just purchased a BB Pearl 8130 and had the disconnect problem periodically with my Nuvi 760 with Bluetooth Firmware Versions 2.8 and 3.0. The reversion trick above to version 2.4 seems to have worked. I will follow up if it has not - BUT - I suggest those above wanting to switch to firmware 2.8 not do it. When it worked, it only worked about 1/2 to 1/3 of the time.

Bless your heart phredd! I had the same problem. At first it all worked, and then I started getting the "phone disconnected" every 5 seconds or so.

Your tip worked for me: Pairing BB 8310 (Curve) & Nuvi 680 -- I called Garmin and they wouldn't help me, since their website says the 680 works with the BB 8300, not the 8310 (even though the only difference is the 8310 has GPS)

Has anyone had any success with firmware 2.8? Also is anyone else having an issue with the volume level being really quiet when they are using speakerphone (or anytime really)?

Load your address book directly from the nuvi, use voice dialing direct from nuvi, call POI directly from nuvi (i.e. you tell nuvi to find all restaurants around you then you can touch one and it can automatically dial them for you)

Default Garmin Nuvi 660 Pairing with 8300 Curve

Hi All,

I have been having major problems pairing with my Nuvi 660 since I upgraded to my Curve. So I contacted Garmin support, what a useless reply I got.

So I followed the instructions on downloading the Italian 2.4 version of the bluetooth software and guess what, no problems now, so I told Garmin what I thought of their support team.

I can therefore recommend the fix if you have any difficulties between the Nuvi 660 and Blackberry Curve 8300.

As to why you would connect them, I use my 660 as an MP3 player through my radio using an FM transmiiter, which means I get cracking sound quality on phone calls through my top notch sound system in the car, a lot better than the tinny sound out of the Nuvi, thanks for the solution guys...

Followed instructions from ggraves! I have the 7100i and was having the same issues. Hopefully this will remedy them for me as well.

I had issues with the address book going to the nuvi 680 until I was on the road for about an hour and a half, then all of a sudden the caller ID was working with the name that was on my phone. I was able to go into the address book and it had all of my contacts. When I first tried downloading the address book it said unsuported so I didn't really worry about it. But after it worked that one day I want it all the time.

Does anyone have any idea if this bluetooth downgrade will fix the phonebook problem as well. If not that is fine I just want the thing to connect to my phone all the time not just when it feels like it.

Thanks in advance.

Smile Pairing Issue Solved with Nuvi 660 & Curve 8310

Greg:
My thanks to you for providing the link and instructions for the Italian Garmin site for download of appropriate software version for the pairing of the BB Curve 8310 to work with my Nuvi 660.

Greg: You are the man. I went all weekend in and out of my car and the phone connected every time. Now if I can just figure out why the address book wont transfer the Nuvi would be an even better tool.

mine works fine with my 310 but I gave up using it as the sound quality for the other end is horrible, you seem to get loads of echo on the other end (paired the 8310 with another handsfree motorola kit and no echo so its not the handset)

Default Thnak you ggraves!

Thank you ggraves!

I too was having problems with the bluetooth between my Garmin 660 and a Blackberry 8830; connection would establish, then disconnect.

Folks, follow the instruction below, kindly provided by ggraves, and if you have a similar issue, it will be fixed.

Thank you again ggraves

I was running version 3.0 (you can check your version by going to Settings -> System -> About on the Nuvi) -- I had success after downgrading to version 2.4.

It's a bit of a convoluted process, but here is the procedure I followed:

1. Download the old Nuvi BT firmware from the Garmin Italy website:

http://www.garmin.it/files/FileBluetooth.zip

2. Connect your Nuvi to your PC.

3. Go into the X:\Garmin\RemoteSW and look for a file called 006B055301.GCD (where X: is your Nuvi drive)

4. Back up that file to your computer, and delete it from the Nuvi.

5. Extract the file in the zip downloaded in step 1 to the X:\Garmin\RemoteSW directory

6. Disconnect your Nuvi from your computer, and let it reboot

7. Click on "View Map," then touch the "Speed" in the lower left corner.

8. You should have the "Dashboard" view up. Touch and hold the "Moving Average" box for ~15 seconds until the diagnostic screen appears.

9. Press the "next" button until you arrive at the "Bluetooth Status" screen (5-6 screens in)

10. Click "Updt PR" and then click "Yes"

11. Reboot the Nuvi, delete the existing bluetooth pairing, and attempt to re-pair with your BlackBerry.

Seems to work perfectly now -- please let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

I did the same thing earlier. I have a BB 8830 and Garmin Nuvi 660. Would not work together as everyone says. I tried the Garmin 2.8 Bluetooth firmware and still no luck. I did get the Bluetooth Firmare version 2.4 from Garmin, they were actually very helpfull for me. I used the 2.4 and now it works like a damn. Anyone that cannot get it, if they want it I can send it to them.

Thanks
