Another one that I use on my Curve is holding the key of the letter I want capitalized. You have to hold it down for a second instead of tapping it. Great for names in the middle of a sentence.

I use my browser to frequent forums and I find desktop view works best. Are there any shortcut keys to scroll across the page horizontally?

reported that tip incorrectly...

Alt + trackball click = copy
shift + delete = cut
shift + trackball click = paste (if you have text on the "clipboard")

sorry.. I have had much time to play with it. Then I realised it didnt work. D'oh

What happens when you press alt enter? Does it ask you to switch languages? If so you need to take the languages off from your desktop manager.
