I LOVE Opera 4. I am able to do things with this browser that I was unable to do before. For instance, I was out one weekend and realized that I hadn't set my fantasy football lineup. I tried with the BB browser, but it just couldn't handle the scripts and gave me the "mobile" view from which I was unable to make any changes.

Flash forward to this weekend and Opera4. I was able to make all the changes I needed without incident. I think I'm going to really like this browser.

For those that cant get it working, what version OS do you have with your curve? I just created a new thread with all the beta versions for 4, however none of them are working whereas they were before i upgraded my OS to 180 :(

XZiler8r, have an idea to try. Go into Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications. Goto opera min and press the BB button, choose Edit Permissions.

In there try setting them so they're all set to allow or as close as you can get it to all saying allow. If this works, then you've got one of your permissions preventing it from working. You may also have a rule in your firewall that would take a reset of it to allow opera traffic again.

Check those settings and report back if they work or not.

I'm attempting that now haxtax... the only difference that I saw with all the beta versions that I tried just now is that beta 1 IMMEDIATELY gives me that error message as soon as I load it, whereas the others (beta 2, 3 and final) will say it after asking me to confirm the network twice and 10 seconds later

I allowed all the permissions, went into the firewall and changed the settings to allow everything as well (firewall disabled so it really didnt matter) and its still not working, asks me to allow network 2x, takes like 20 seconds and same error

There's been an odd problem with bis connections (bb browser) and tcp/apn connections (opera)

Randonly opera will have the failed to connect problem then bb browser gives a "there was a problem trying to render page" error.

OS problem?

Thanks so much. I was stuck, but doing exactly what you suggested fixed it up for me on my TMO 8800.

Cheers.

Is this a used BB from someone? If it is, you may need to remove the IT policy that is still lying dormant on the device.

Follow these instructions:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...ve-policy.html

Then I'd wipe the handheld and update to either .175 or .180 and give it another shot.

Custom means some are allowed and some aren't under that tree. If you press the spacebar over the custom display it will expand it and you can see which specific settings are enabled and such.

I had the same issue but I deduced it to the fact that I wasn't on a data plan. Even then, I had to DL opera OTA while using the data network (edge in this case) and not my WIFI option. Since then it has been working even on WIFI. I've had this setup for a couple of weeks now.
That's the good news. Bad news is, I have just recently terminated my data plan (didn't need it) and just DL a new theme which deleted the Opera app. So after downloading Opera again, it looks like Opera doesn't want to work anymore and I'm back to square one.

Glad to hear you got it working! Did you have to follow the procedure to reset the IT policy?
