Default Vanishing e-mails

Please Login to Remove!

I have a user who's e-mail started vanishing from his handheld last weekend. He brought me his device and I moved his SIM card into a new one, but the same thing is happening. He's had 92 e-mails forward since Monday, but the handheld only has two from yesterday and a dozen from today. All of the mail is visiable in his Exchange Inbox. Called RIM and was transferred to a "handheld expert" who could only tell me to do what I did on Monday once again and "keep an eye on it" (Is there anyway to get my $1500 back from those crooks?) The two units I've tried were a 7290 and a 7230, both with 4.0. Could the SIM card be causing this?

How much free memory does he have in each Blackberry? When the memory is very low, a Blackberry will delete older messages.

Here's a quote (http://www.pdastreet.com/articles/20...How-to-Do.html) from How to Do Everything with Your BlackBerry by Curt Simmons :

"When memory begins to run low, the BlackBerry has to make room for new, incoming messages. To find the room it needs, the BlackBerry begins deleting the oldest messages in the Messages folder; however, messages stored in your Saved Messages folder are not deleted. In order to avoid the potential message loss, it is important that you keep your Messages folder tidy—delete messages you don’t want and save messages that you do want. These housekeeping actions will help ensure that you do not lose e-mail that you might need."

Simmons doesn't say so here, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it only deletes the messages you've already read.

No filters are being used and nothing in his subfolders, even though every one of them is marked for forwarding.

What about the free space on the device? You need at least a MEG...

Three hundred and something kb were free on the device (the user took off so I can't tell you the exact number) and the guy from RIM said that amount was fine.

The user just e-mailed me that his Contacts, Tasks and Notes are now empty.

He is not using a PST is he? mail being moved to a PST might cause what you are seeing. I think the BES logs are where to really look to see what is going on.

You should hard reset your bb. Remove batterycover and insert a needle or something in the small hole in die lower right corner of the bb.
