2009 Stimulus Checks???

I've been trying to keep up to date on this whole thing. I do remember reading something in the paper saying Obama was trying to get something done as far as stimulus checks to help the economy again. Does anyone know what the status is on that? Just curious if we'll be getting another check this year.

I don't think it will involve an actual check. I believe its money for various programs. The best analogy I could give is what they did in the 40's to create jobs.

I think it is just money for infrastructure work (lots of it!!). Definitely very close to what was done in the 30s and 40s. I don't think we'll be getting checks that our children's children will still be paying for 80 years from now.

Are you perhaps taking about his recovery package? I read somewhere where it wont be a one time check like it has been in the past... What it will be is a few extra bucks on your paycheck / unemployment / retirement for the entire year...
In other words maybe an extra $30 a check for the whole year

I got a check last year for $2400. I rat-holed it because it was a one time windfall.
If my paycheck was bigger I'd spend it every month (my wife would, rather.) That's why it needs to be tax cuts, not checks.
And, yeah, it is NOT free. It's over a trillion dollars that someone has to pay back. In it's current state, it's a left wing spending nightmare.

Be mindful that the govt will take less FICA, so you will have more net income each pay period. However, you will be paying this extra money back when you file your 2009 taxes
