Complete and utter newbie here and I'm really missing my old cell phone!!

1) I keep getting the following error when I try and upload a theme:
"The blackberry Desktop software does not have blackberry device software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."
Why is this happening?

2) I want to upload an ipod theme for my Pearl, but just don't want to do it via the net as I don't have a data plan. Can I do this through my USB cable?

3) Can I use google maps without a data plan?

skanji:

1. Download the handheld OS from your carrier's site to your PC. Run the EXE file and it will load to your PC, and then Desktop Manager and App Loader will load your themes/

2. ditto.

3. Google Maps reqiuires a data plan or TCP. If you don't have a Data Plan, try this, and see if it works.

...and final question (until the next one!)

Is there anyone using their BB Pearl and NOT utilizing a data plan? I still use the calendar, tasks, phone but would love to get added stand alone (ie. non internet) functionality that would cause me to utilize a data plan...
