Lightbulb ++Stream Audio From your PC to your PEARL

Please Login to Remove!

here is something that will knock your socks off. found this a while
ago, not sure if its been covered here. thanks go out to pearlbuddy

J LLaMa's test notes below
it takes about 60 secs after clicking on a new song in winamp
to get the pearl to pick it up

i got confused on where to chnge the port number. that text file is set up
odd for me.
second line about two thirds the way it says
"Ports < 1024
; may require root privledges on *nix machines. The default port is 8000.
PortBase=80"
change the 80 to 81
thats where i was getting stalled on
(i kept changing the YPORT80)
password to enter is on second line about a 1/6th of the way from the left

when u use the GUI it should say connected
then go into the winamp settings
like the tutorial above just use the same password you put into the text file and same port #

i seemed to get into a strange area. so i was listening to my station,
and i noticed the GUI said it needed a name. so i went to the yellowpage
thing and made a name. i guess i had to restart the GUI, and couldn't get
to my own station. someone else had found my station and was listening to
it. i changed this real quick by making my station not public in the yellow
page tab. might have been stingey but i'm still learning about this.

btw i downloaded the J River Media Center program and it took over the
port connection i was using for the Shoutcast DNAS server...so i
deleted JR Media Center, rebooted computer and all was well again

ALSO you can use MFRADIO if radiobee isn't your cup of tea.

That's going into my "Yeah Right" file.

No way I'm taking the time to try that out.

i probably should have dumped this into my yeah right file as well, but i got sucked in :p i keep getting unable to connect from MFRadio. I set up everything in the router to allow access to those ports, +1 and -1 of the port value i set in the config of shoutcast. On the server monitor i get:

<02/25/07@09:28:27> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:24 ; icy-url:http://myIP:port
<02/25/07@09:28:27> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A

and in the shoutcast source it is streaming bytes, just i cannot establish a connection. any help would be appreciated.

Sith_Apprentice .....hmmm i'm guessing you're not getting thru the router.
try bypassing the router (if possible and see if that works)

I tried doing this yesterday but I'm having some trouble with the port forwarding on my router. Other than that it works great. Thanks for the find!

i honestly dont know what im doing wrong on the router side. i even went so far as to disable ALL firewalls, software, and hardware, and open up 2 ports on the router on either side of the default port. still nothing, just getting unable to connect. how odd.

the "myIP:port" should be your real IP adress, something like 12.345.678.91 then the port is whatever you want it, so it should look like this - 12.345.678.91:81

btw- thanks for the heads up on MFradio. it works, just make sure you have "http://" without quotes in front of your IP adress

I'm not gonna say yeah right....just that radiobee sux!! I've used MFRadio to stream audio via shoutcast, but EDGE just can't keep the connection going steady. Until they bump up EDGE or move to a faster service, streaming won't work too well on the Pearl.
