So I've had my 8700G for about 2 months now, I put the card behind the battery door (Oh this is my 3rd one by the way), and honestly for the amount of money we pay, I want to see if there is support for a petition to rim to fix the battery door issue. RIM has to know they are loose and thus delivers a defective product. There are 100's of phones/pds devices etc that don't have faulty battery doors. If I missed a post with a petition or a way to let rim know let me know but if there is support I'll draft a petition!

Yeah, I think that it might be getting worse on mine. Maybe I am just using my BB more. I am going to take a business card and an razor blade and try and quiet my door. Then there will at least be my card in it if someone should find it.

i dont know if you guys mean losse like the battery door falls off? My battery door was a little loose like it would slide up and down just the tiniest bit, but it was annoying. i just put a piece a paper towel in there to take up the space and it worked great!

Take a post-it note. Fold it in half so it is stick on both sides. Tear off the bottom so it is about the same size as the battery. Stick it on the battery. Replace cover. It is now tight.

I did a similar fix on mine, and it left it on the battery when I eBay'ed the device a few days ago.

i put a whole pack of those mini post it notes in mine awhile back.. it doesnt move at all

Loose battery doors are a common problem with most PDA's.. Folded paper is an easy fix.

The point is, $500 phones should not have such little problems as a loose battery door.

Yeah ya'll missed my point that I've already tried the fixes but I'm at the point where I just think it's bad design that needs to be addressed. Trust me I've got paper in there right now or else I'd be going bonkers!

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the frequency you pull the battery door off and on but I have no problems with a loose door. It is slightly loose but I don't even notice it. In fact when I tried to remove the door it was a bit difficult.

Blackberry doesn't claim rock solid hardware, they claim the best push email in the biz. In other words, You're not paying $500 for the plastic housing... It's plastic, what do you expect.

Even if they don't claim to have rock solid hardware, you don't see nokia's with battery door issues... or the motorola Q. it's all in the design if people complain enough they might fix it just like the dust issue!!

Its funny that I never noticed this problem. I do have "the best skin ever" on my phone. And it seems very difficult to get the cover off. But before that I never had issue.

Hey guys, new to the forum and just wanted to pass on what I used to fix this little issue, I am an employee of Cingular and used a small piece of foam found on the battery doors of a Sony Ericsson Z520a. It is a small about once inch square and works perfectly in getting the door to stay put.

So you're telling me if you paid $100,000 for a car and the rearview mirror was always loose and wobbled that you wouldn't want it fixed? Or if you paid $15,000 for a new TV and the wall mount was loose, you wouldn't want it fixed? Or if you paid $5,000 for a home stereo receiver and the volume knob always wobbled around and was loose, you wouldn't want it fixed? I'm sure whoever made the car wouldn't specialize in bad ass rearview mirrors, whoever made the TV wouldn't specialize in bad ass wall mounts, and whoever made the receiver wouldn't specialize in bad ass volume knobs...but, they better sure as hell work correctly when spending so much money!

That sounds like the kind of fix fix RIM might do if pushed to do something, anyway. Seems standard on many devices (with battery) doors. I wouldn't want more plastic on the door and risk it getting 'sticky'.

The "wobbly" keyboards (side to side movement of the whole keyboard) is a greater travesty of design IMHO. But not enough to worry me about it.

Somehow, to know my [insert product name here] is 'typical' or 'as good as it gets' is of some comfort when in other respects that product does what it's supposed to, doesn't fail, and the issue is fairly cosmetic.

You make good points but I don't think your comparison is sound because although $500 is expensive for a phone it is not expensive for one with "elaborate" PIM functions. I mean if you compare it to a Treo, which is about $600 for the 650 GSM unlocked and unsubsidized you're getting a deal with the Blackberry right. Since the 650 seems unstable and you pay more for it. Although, I'm not sure where you are getting the $500 number from as it seems too expensive for a subsidized unit and too cheap for an unsubsidized unit.

Well I paid over $1,500 for 'pro' a lens for my camera. I expected it to be "perfect". Actually, it's not. Just less imperfect than cheaper lenses. NO lens is perfect...
