i love the all dark blue / black housing of the 8700g from T-mobile but its housing won't fit the 8700c .... slightly different screen shape . but the 8700r has the exact shape and keyboard / screen size and location .... hhmmm ? i wonder ? has anyone tried or successfully done this swap .... i love my 8700c but i really hate the color of it ... no other real problems with my BB so i will spend my time trying to make it look better , or to my lking at least . plz don't tell me to search .... i tried , and tried but found other housing and case threads . thankx all .

Actually, it does fit. I don't want to search for the thread, but it has been done by a member of this forum.

I'm sorry I can't provide you with the link, but there was a gentleman on this forum that did the swap for his girlfriend if that will help you in your search.

oh thankx anyway , i'm not worried about how or who really , thankx anyway really ... i just wanted to know if anyone did it , now that i know , i'm alright . its just a matter of time before i change mine to all black ! nice .

Do you have the housing? Funny you bring that up, I have the T-Mobile black housing and I want the Cingular grey.

Yeah, that would be cool, I too would like the darker housing of the 8700R. Something to look into. I am surprised that Cingular has not started to market the 8700C with different color housings like they now do with the Razr. Amazing how much more people are willing to pay for the same phone just in a different color housing.

So, let me get this straight. The 8700g and 8700c housings are interchanable? Is there a need to puchase the keyboard or keypad like that for the swap of the 7100t and 7100g?

I remember reading that the 8700c and the 8700g are shaped just slightly differently, I think because of the keyboard.

Does anyone know if there are any after market housings...maybe something that has built in ruggedness?

No , the 8700g and 8700c housings are not interchangable .... not at all , not even a little . the housing of the 8700c and the 8700R ( Rodgers ) are interchangable ... these share the exact keyboard , screen , and speaker layout .
