Default Has anyone noticed poor Bluetooth reception on the Bold?

Please Login to Remove!

As you can see in my signature, I've gone through a few different BlackBerry units. They have all had excellent Bluetooth reception, even staying connected to my GPS in my truck, parked in a carport, RF traveling through several walls, and even upstairs.

I'm on my second Bold and I can't even stay connected sometimes 5 feet away from my laptop. It has also been an issue with the Bluetooth in my truck. The phone has to pretty much be touching the laptop or near the Bluetooth adapter in the truck.

So my question, has anyone else noticed a difference in Bluetooth reception with the Bold? Does it seem limited to you? I only ask the question because this is my second one with the same results. The only variable, which shouldn't be a variable, is the Seidio case. That shouldn't affect the Bluetooth though, and if it does it's still not a variable in my case because I had the same case on all of the other BlackBerry units.

It will be interesting to hear if others have noticed this.

Thanks.

I have barely used my Jawbone since picking up my Bold back in August. At first I thought it was the jawbone but after pairing it to my curve and pearl I concluded it wasn't the headset. You can still hear and be understood quite well. If I'm driving I usually use speakerphone. With the quality of the speakerphonethe way it is sometimes my passenger is the one hold the phone and the person on the other line can't even tell. As for pairing with my pc I haven't noticed any problems at.

It's possible it may be bluetooth chipset specific - so while it may not work well with some, it works really well with the cheap headsets I have tried it with. Including the Motorola, helium BT headphones, and the laptop. I have not had any problems across different versions of BB OS.

Yeah, it still seems to me that the problem lies with the Bold. As ChestR_MolestR and I are both saying is, we didn't have problems with other BlackBerry units while using the same headsets and vehicle connections. The only thing that is different in the equation is the Bold.

No problems here, when I start my car in the morning and go back inside the house I notice that my bluetooth will stay connected until I walk out of my kitchen. As far as it being connected to my laptop, I have Vista, so it has always been an issue and I have never worried about trying to fix it.

I have had intermittent problems with BT dropping connection with my Audi Q7. Was on .190, upgraded to .210 and it seems better, but still get occasional disconnects from BT in the car.

I have a plantronics 665 and it never worked well with my curve, it was staticky and poor quality, but it works flawlessly with my Bold and I love it.

Mine is excellent. Rock solid. Probably better than any of my previous handsets. I think your issue could be unique to your BlackBerry.
