Hi has a problem with a program hanging so i did the remove battery trick. Now when booting up my Bold 9700 gets about two thirds of the way (judged by the bar on the Blackberry screen) and just stops and sits there doing nothing.

Any ideas please?

How long are you waiting for it to fully reboot? Give it atleast 20 mins to see if it is definitely stuck, on a good day a 9700 takes 5 mins to boot.

If after 20 minutes it is still stuck, reinstall your OS. The link you need for that is here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...a-english.html

MY thought is the corrupt file you mentioned is the culprit.

I hope you have a good back up of your data because the solution is to wipe the device with Jl_cmdr (see the FAQ) and then reload the OS (yellow sticky at the top of the 9800 section for OS and instructions)

How long have you waited?

Did you try another, longer battery pull?

If it keeps happening and you have waited long enough to be sure it isn't going to boot...

Remove the microSD media card, if you are using one, and try again. If that doesn't work, see if you can boot in safe mode, and then delete that app which was hanging up on you.

See KB17877-How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in safe mode for instructions on safe mode. You'll need to have OS 4.6 or newer.

If you can't boot in safe mode, you'll need to wipe the device with JL_CMDR and resintall the OS. See the FAQ for the two articles on using JL_CMDER.

Thanks for the responses. It was a corrupt file in the end. took about 30 mins to start up then i found the app that caused the problem, reinstalleed it and hey prestion, all OK.
