Default 8520 - saving number to Contacts

Please Login to Remove!

Hello
I have an 8520 (my first BB). If I receive an SMS text message from a number which is not in my Contacts list, I am unable to save the number of the sender into Contacts. I am told that, once I open the text message, then press the BB (menu) key, there will be an option to "Add to Contacts". There is no such option. I am on v5 of the Operating System, which I understand is the latest version.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you

Scroll your cursor up over the number, then press Menu > Add to contact

As described in the Original thread:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ms-number.html
The OP cannot scroll over the number nor is there the Save to contacts option everyone in that thread has mentioned.

How about trying the following:

while showing the SMS, Menu -> Show Recipients -> Menu -> Select -> highlight number -> Menu -> Copy . . . then you can create New Contact and Paste number.

Ahhh... so. not possible on the 8520... is this just a glitch in this OS release?
Was it possible in an earlier release for the 8520?

(i'll go read the other thread now)

Rubbish T-mobile - it seems that a "feature" of their BB service is that you cannot save numbers as I want. My colleague at work who has a BB8520 too, but on Virgin Mobile, CAN save the number. We are both on OSv5 but the last 3 numbers of the version number are slightly different.

Yours
One VERY unhappy T-mobile customer.

Adam, help yourself out here... what OS release are each of the two devices on?
And which one has the Save to Contacts?... those last three digits?

I have the same version with o2. It was removed when I was forced to upgrade the os following a blue screen of death type scenario.

Therefore its to do with the specific OS 5 version i.e. those last 3 digits.
Its obviously missing in that specific version.
If you have the latest, downgrade to the last known OS that you remember having that option.
If you don't have the latest, upgrade to the latest and see if its there.
