Default BLUE TOOTH

Please Login to Remove!

I have been reading several posts about the blue tooth headset. Can some give me the pros of having the headset. I already know that you don't have to worry about the cord getting in the way and all that stuff. Can somebody share some more things, that will help me in my decision process. I have the BB7520 thru nextel

The biggest benefit is the lack of the cord. Most of these units hook around your ear and can sit there waiting to answer a call. The one I have has a button you can hit when you get a call (it makes a ringing sound in your ear). The Blackberry needs to be in the area of you to work, whether it is on your belt, sitting in your breifcase, on your seat or in the Holster. It works very well, and is something I would not give up now.

Oh and it puts you in the group of us that look like we are schizophrenic and walk around and talk to ourselfs.

I have the HS850 an LOVE it... Now for the 7520 (I have a friend who has this one) the ONLY one that I now works well is the BT250 by Jabbra.

The HS850 works GREAT on the 7290 (what I use it on). My friend bought an HS850 with me, and wound up selling it because of echo...

I have the BT250 by Jabbra. I bouht it from Best Buy becuase they would let me return it within 30 days (as long as it was perfect).

It has a rechargable battery that charges in 2 hours (or so). It will last 250 hours in standby (although I have never let it run out) and I think 8 hours talktime. It has a holder that the charger plugs into. I am very technical but had NO problem pairing it with my phone. If you get it, remember to go into the details of it on the blackberry after you pair it, and list it as a trusted device so you do not have to accept it on the Blackberry every time you turn it on.

Hope that helps

I've tried the following headsets with my 7290:

Plantronics M2500
Logitech Feedom Headset
Jabra BT250
Motorola HS810

My personal favorite is the HS810. I love how it folds up when not in use. I carry it in my pocket all the time. Very quick and easy to slip on over the ear. I think the HS850 is similar.

My next choice is the Jabra 250. I wasn't too impressed with the other two..especially with the Plantronics M2500. It didn't seem to have any noice cancellation in it...it was VERY noisy!

HTH...

Got the HS850 for my BB7250 and am now returning it for a Jabra 250. Had the echo problem other people referenced. Its a shame as I like the size and the fact that I could hang it from my neck on a lanyard. Not so sure how things are going to work with the Jabra. Will post up results for other 7250 users as experiences seem to vary with different BB models.

Does anyone have experience with bluetooth handsfree car kits (ie. kits with a speaker and microphone that are permanently installed in the car)?

I think I would prefer this arrangement to a portable headset.

Has anyone used a Motorola HF800 bluetooth headset/kit? Kinda neat device, its a car kit, personal headset, and desktop speaker phone all in one.

I'm curious about the Motorola HF800 too. I have a 7250 and an HS810, but there is a distorted echo on the other end of all of my calls with the 810 so I am looking for a fix/replacement.

Is the 810 a new product? I haven't been able to dig up much on it.

honestly i love the jabra one, it is a lot more discreet and does not bulk out from my ear, a lot lighter too. The ones that bulk out from the ear tend to pull your ear outward causing more weight and eventually more pain.....

my 2 cents.. hope this helps...

Is the Jabra always-on? I really like how I can have the motorola sitting somewhere else and then flip the boom to answer the call.

kashou, I was so sad to return my HS850. I did so for the same reason you mentioned and will miss it for the same reason as well.

verticl, I have used an earlier Jabra on another device and given up on it because of battery life, but that doesn't seem to be a problem now. I am really looking for quality sound, especially on the receiver side as I talk to customers all the time.

I am hearing that the Jabra crackles and is not good in the car due to background noise.

Are you using the Jabra with a 7250? I will definitely post my impressions when I get the device.

@kashou

Yes its always on, doesn't turn off it has a standby time of 240 hours which is more than enough. I have tried the HS850 and all the other ones and honestly this has been the best. I have heard the cingular store guy actually sell the HS850 beceause they say it has a standby feature, technically there is no standby a device is on or off, it has quick boot time, a couple of seconds, and its always on. Whenever i disconnect it i can usualy connect back to the device by just clicking the call button.

@BB_WayCool

I don't see that as being an issue, this has 8 hours of talk time and 240 hours of standby time, its worked out great! I haven't used it with a 7250 but i will use it with my 7100g tomorrow and post my thoughts. I have not had one crackling sound with it, most people actually ask if i am even outside or in the car. And its noise cancelation is nice. The mic picks up sounds way too easily and often i have to speak softly so the other person doesn't think i am yelling my head off!

i will post more tomorrow on the Jabra and 7100g

What would you like to know? - I have had 4 or 5 of them.

I'm looking for recommendations for a car kit. I just upgraded my 7280 to a 7290 and want to take advantage of bluetooth, but prefer a "speakerphone" to a headset in the car.

Two similar devices which look very interesting are the Motorola HF800 and the Jabra SP100. Both need minimal installation and have good features.

Do you have experience with either of these, or with something similar?

I use a Sony-Ericsson Akona HBH 300. Works really well in vehicles and noisy environments. Very comfortable, great sound, no echo. The only drawback is that the answer button is small.

ldblf2-

We sell both and have tested them. They do offer a decent compromise for some one that doesn't want to go all out on the installed car kit.

The SP 100 is louder and comes equiped with a vehicle charger, home charger and various mounting clips. The HF 800 comes with a home charger.

For the full install I like the Parrot systems. They seem to be the most compatible with a variety of bluetooth phones and I have tested it with my 7100t and it worked well.

In terms of headets my favorite is the M3500 Plantronics... it is not the most comfortable but fidelity is better than any of the others.

BB Newbie here so please bear with me...

How easy is it to switch between using a BlueTooth headset and just using the Blackberry itself? For example say I'm driving to work and I leave the headset in my ear but when I get to work I have it in my pocket and I don't feel like pulling it out to answer a call or do direct connect. Do I need to go through menu's to disable it or is there a shortcut? I just want to be sure I can use the BB as a standalone phone without much trouble even if I was just using the headset a few minutes before.

If I'm asking the question wrong due to not having any BB experience feel free to explain how it all works.

It's Easy. Enable Bluetooth. Setup your earpiece as per manufacturer's recommendations. Go to "Settings" and toggle between "Blutooth On" and Bluetooth Off"
