Default Verizon Wireless Network Upgrade

Verizon Wireless's Mobile Office Team

Also known as the Wireless Data Technical Support Team declared today that on Tuesday we will have full HTML on the Blackberry 7750.

I was speaking with a representative in the Folsom, California office which can be reached at 866-788-9387. You can call too if you'd like to verify this information.

FYI... if you log into your blackberry webclient, you will see the option in your profile to send out the internet browsing service book... although it doesn't work today; it gives credibility to their story that we will have full html browsing by Tuesday.

I just checked my profile in the webclient and didn't see a service book for web browsing. I have 2 service books on my BB Verizon Wireless [WAP] and Web Client [CMIME]. Are you sure you aren't being confused by one or the other?

The last time I spoke to a Verizon rep, they said they were still testing 4.0 which is required for web browsing. Even if they upgrade to 4.0, they still need something on their end (BES?) in order to provide web browsing. They did not mention anything about this though.

Internet Browsing Service Book
If you are experiencing difficulties with your Internet Browsing feature, you may need to send an Internet Browsing service book to your handheld.
The service book my not have been sent properly when the option was first enabled. To send an Internet Browsing service book, click Send Internet Browsing Service Book

I logged into my BB webclient and I clicked on the Service Book icon. All that did was send a service book to my BB. And, the same 2 items show up - Verizon Wireless [WAP] and WebClient [CMIME].

I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if, and what, Verizon sends anything out.

COuld have something to do with the launch of the 7250 today for Verizon. It is supposed to have the browser built in. I would assume this is why it would also carry over to the 7750. SHould be interesting to see.

Downloaded a new service book and now have:

Verizon Wireless (WAP)
Web Client (CMIME)
Blackberry Browser (Browser)

Now what? In the past have used Reqwireless with MobileWeb4U. How do I access HTML?

PS. Looking forward to review of Verizon 7250 and the cost for procuring through Verizon Business.

I just did a request for a service book and it downloaded to my BB. I don't see Blackberry Browser though.

Talked to Verizon Data Tech Support and they confirmed that Today is the release date for the Handheld 4.0 software upgrade and the HTML browsing for the 7750.

They said that the website should update at some point today to reflect the new changes.

The initial tech I spoke too knew nothing of the release but the next level up confirmed today is the day.

You can hit the alt key and the cancel button on the side at the same time and it will pull up a task list and the browser should be listed there.

Ok...gotcha now. Thanks! But it doesn't do much good without the service book. Its just a matter of when Verizon will offer the services.

Verizon Tech Support says today that Browser Supoort and 4.0 Handheld Software is only for the 7250 and not the 7750.

They do plan on upgrading the 7750 'Down the Road' but not at this time.
They said that it is possible by next month or so they may have it available.

I played this game with them on the Samsung I700 and it took them a year and a half to upgrade its software.

Verizon is one of the worst when it comes to promising features to businesses to get high volume orders, then missing the promised dates by more than 6 months for features that originally sold the phones.

As a former i700 user, I would echo turp7622's comments in a big way. That is why I became a BB user in the first place. 7250 is sounding better and better and at least at this point appears to be the strategic BB for Verizon. I am trying to figure out if I want to shell out the money and ditch the 7750. I guess I can justify saving on a monthly MDS cost, but really the lure is a new toy. Oh boy.

And I heard that 7750 should be upgradable for consumers to 4.0 any day and then they will offer browsing. It is interesting how you can even walk into a Verizon store and there are 5 clerks...all of which say 5 different things about anything you ask them.

Default Verizon web browsing

I've been web browsing with my Verizon Blackberry 7750 for several months. Is that just because we are using a BES?
