Default Anyone know of a decent Wifi Analyser App for PB?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

There is a brilliant Wifi Analyser app for Android (Wifi Analyser, cunningly!) that I was hoping to run on the PB. The app loads perfectly but then doesn't see any networks apart from itself so is useless, alas.

The good thing about that App is that it is real-time and as you walk around a building the graph on-screen shows the signal emitting from APs increasing so is perfect for finding where APs have been hidden in ceilings etc.

You don't need to be connected to a Network for it to work, it just scans and reports back, really effectively.

I have had a look through BlackBerry World but there's nothing obviously similar.

Does anyone know if there is something like that out there for the PB?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

WIFI scanning may be a limitation of the OS on the playbook.
I would start by not having any wifi networks connected on the PB.
I should then see any wifi network in range.

If the PB is connected to a wifi network it may not be able to scan.
On a PC the wifi networks are seen anytime even when one is connected. available information indicates the PB does not act this way.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I think you may be right, or certainly so far as the Android Emulation is concerned. Any Android-based Wifi utility I try comes up as just "BlackBerry Wifi Network" and a good signal - no others are visible so it is as if it is emulating in some way and cannot get beyond the "virtual" Wifi network adaptor.

But the fact that the native OS can see multiple networks suggests that, as a native BlackBerry App something should be possible.

Tried to get on the PC-based version of AppWorld to see if I could see anything useful in there but it's down for maintenance - has been for the past couple of days oddly...
