Default Lock voice/phone service

Please Login to Remove!

How do I lock the voice/phone service with BES policy? I talk to the provider AT&T that many user acccidential hit the call button (when they only have DATA plan and restrict VOICE service).

However the rule from AT&T is that as long as it go over 30sec, the user will be charge even it have the VOIC restrict function apply.

I want to see if there is policy that I can completed lock down those BB with DATA plan and restrict VOICE service.

There is a policy setting that enables you to turn off the phone function completely.

IT Policy - Global - Allow Phone

set this to False and only emergency calls are allowed. I suspect you may be looking for more control than that though.

actually it sounds like he wants to restrict all voice calls and allow data only.

The above will do that. You won't have access to the phone. However, you cannot block emergency calls.

Thank you for the information, but will BB user tha have both DATA/VOICE affect by this policy?

Where do I look for the IT policy at the BES?

That policy will only restrict phone calls. Data will not be affected.

Go to your global tab, click edit properties and then select IT Policy.

you need to create a new policy, or alter an existing policy.

then apply that policy to the users that you want to restrict dialing access to.

for example, right now, i have 3 users on the BPS server. i am on the default IT policy.

the 2 users are on a policy i created called, test policy.

i hope that helps.

Thank for the information.

I'm assuming that I can apply those IT Policy to any user that I want when I creat their BES account. I'm going to a test policy on those restriction call service, so AT&T cannot abuse the charge on us.

Yes, you can assign the policy at the time of activating the device, or whenever you need.
