Default "No system software found on this device"

Please Login to Remove!

A really dumb question. I am using T-mobile on an unlocked 8700c. I have loaded both the T-mobile and then the Cingular versions of the Desktop Manager but when I try to load applications on eiother version I get the above message. I called TM support and they said the problem is that the phone has the wrong Vendor Code and it can't be changed. Cingular won't talk to me because I don't have an account with them. In trying to folllow threads on this forum and the RIM Knowledge Base, it looks like I am missing device software but attempts to install anything are blocked by the above problem. (Everything else works prefectly on the phone).

Thanks in advance for your help

Sound like you just install the desktop software but not the handheld software on you computer, same for the application, you need to install it on the computer first and than from the computer to the handheld.

the vendor thing should located at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
find the vendor file and delete it, use application loader, and it should automactically load the os into your bb...

I am not sure is that your problem!

CBR is correct. BobH - you need both pieces of software installed.

willny - you need to download and execute the latest BlackBerry 8700 handheld operating system (choose the latest one - it doesn't matter if it is from T-Mobile, Cingular or Telstra). Choose one. Download it and execute the downloaded program.

Then locate and delete "VENDOR.XML" on your C: drive.

Restart Desktop Manager..

Hi all, thanks for the help. I tried installing the handheld SW, but the only site I found the same version (4.1.0.286) was at a Hong Kong carrier. When I installed it and ran the App Loader, it showed that it would delete all the Portuguese language files, which I did not want.

So I decided to uninstall the Desktop and Handheld apps from my PC. Then I went to the Program Files folder and I erased the leftovers in the Research in Motion folder.

I reinstalled the Desktop SW, without deleting the Vendor.xml file, and the installation for eFile worked.
