Default New Admin - Viewing email on 7290

Please Login to Remove!

I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to change the way users view incoming messages on a 7290? I've seen tips for other models, but they don't work for 7290.

My company has just installed BES with MS Exchange, and I'm the Administrator I guess - having never seen a blackberry until last week, let alone worked with MS Exchange. I've barely slept in a week, and everyone comes to me with the same thing - they want more info/or a preview of incoming emails without having to actually open them.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any input you pass my way!

I take it you mean like the 'preview pane' in MS outlook, where you get several lines of an email withou actually opening it.

There is an option under "Messages", "General Options", "Display Message Header On" to permit more header information, but it's doesn't give you a preview..

I don't think there is an option to do what you want, and with such a restrcted screen real-estate, why would you want it anyway. Surely you read the header, then choose to open the mail, and close if rubbish or read if interesting.

The 7290 doesn't seem to have the option of 'Display Message Header On', although I know this is an option on some other models. Perhaps because of the limited 'real-estate' on this model it didn't seem like a necessary option.

We are in an industry where time is everything, I think they want more info from the subject line so they can skip actually having to open the email. More info in the subject line would allow them to simply scroll through the page and have the bit of info they require to carry out that particular task right there to see (such as client name, or address - we are a courier company).

Thank you for input, this is a great forum! I've learned more here than from the many, many manuals and guides I've been reading this week.

Thanks,
jlaur

It's quite easy to say "NO" to users especially if they are being lame which is the case here "IMHO" - click in to read a message, scan, scroll down and exit - 2 seconds max.. you'll be spending 2 seconds or more scrolling around to find mesages if you have 4 line 'previews' on the 'home screen'

Thank you bertiebassett,

I agree with you whole-heartedly, and I've explained it to them. Being new to this I needed to know I had looked into it as much as possible before I actually used the 'NO' word. I appreciate your help, and I'm very thankful to the creators of this wonderful forum. This place is is great!

Thanks again,
j.
