Default Holster Draining Battery

Please Login to Remove!

I am currently experiencing the issue of the Holster draining the 8900 Battery. I tested it out without the holster and with the holster and yes its was a major drain with the holster. How do you correct this? Is there a Holster you can purchase that can remedy this problem? Will RIM and or the provider (T-Mobile) consider this a problem?

Not sure what to do.

most other holster will work correctly....you can get a full leather one that will protect your BB completely and not leave the top of it exposed anyhow

This is the 8900 Curve I am speaking about. Are you sure this case will not drain the Battery? I dont want to sound like I doubt you, but this is a problem with our corporate 8900's and if I purchase a bunch of these and it continues to happen then you understand.

I have this case the standby feature works and it doesn't drain the battery. Many threads are around about this issue and they all tend to lead to the issue is the tightness of the case.

This case is lose. maybe you should order one and see if it works for you.

the phone does tend to move around in it

This has been discussed numerous times in these forums. Upgrading the OS to at least .168 fixes the issue. No need to get a new holster, just upgrade the OS.

That's "not the case" (lol). Some cases press on the keys and keep the phone on and battery draining because they're too tight. My OEM pouch is fine, the one I bought that was RIM case for $30 was too tight (sent back). It's pretty easy to tell the good from the bad. No need to mess with the OS if it's a case of a too tight case.

Placing in the case, even when button pressed will be ineffective. Any task being performed when the BB detects the magnet will cease because of it. I have a seidio case and if I place the BB in backwards, NONE of the keys work when pressed because it is asleep.

I bought the curve 8900 last weekend...OS was .114 or older. The battery got drained within a day, less than 20 hours i would say, as i slot it into the sleeve most of the time... After reading a thread on suggestion to upgrade to OS to .174, which i did, and it has been working wonderfully. You can notice that the 'aA' key is being pressed (when the sleeve is new, and tight!). Remember to also 'lock' the keypad before you slide your unit into the sleeve..

im on rogers. have the 8900 as my primary small (personal) business phone. and have the bold for my employer phone.... i must say that I am a power user and use them evenly. 8900 on BIS with 8 email accts, and bold on 1 bes and 1 bis... honestly, ive used the 8900 with factory rogers and have upgraded to .133 and i use the sleeve all the time as it is in my pocket and the bold on my belt. I plugged my 8320 to my sleeve to expand it.. not because of batt issues, but for size issues.. i can say that after a few nights of the 8320 stretching it, its much easier to pull the ph out. I also have the latest official os for the bold and its really even... 48 hours.. i had to charge the bold in 43 hours because i was off "work" work and still going string with my personal work.. i do ebusiness, hosting, etc. .so email intensive for my personal work, si am confident i actually use my 8900 as much as my 9000... guilty for mixing personal work with business work :-O)

im not sure why peeps are having probs with the case.. remember, i had no issues with the tight sleeve, accept the pulling out the phone!

Odd, I just bought an T-Mobile Blackberry Sunset Curve for my gfriend and I loaned her my old Seidio Clip Holster and it doesn't only drain the battery in minutes but kills all power on the device, and resets it, even if the battery is fully charged.

I am using BB rubber protector and BB 8310 holster, fits perfectly and no battery drainage.

No issues with the genuine BB swivel holster, except for being a little tight for the first few days.
