Default Latest OS 9700 5.0.0.554/5.0.0.351

Please Login to Remove!

Newest Official 9700 OS 5.0.0.351
Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9700 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.554 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.554
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.351
* Software Platform: 5.1.0.98
* File name: 9700M_PBr5.0.0_rel554_PL5.1.0.98_A5.0.0.351_Rogers _Wireless_Inc.exe
* File size: 143.56MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download HERE

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

I am assuming the SMS number only issue still exists with this build?

I have been running this for a few weeks. Only issue thus far is WiFi connections on a BES won't connect to BIS as a backup. So it isn't a big deal, just a nice failover if my BES went down.

I dont have an SMS problem on any of the builds. Maybe its the way you store your numbers? I store them like this "+x (xxx) xxx-xxxx" eg: +1 (555) 555-5555.

That's the bug.
You should be able to store your numbers any way you choose.
This OS doesn't like having dashes in the number.

Oh my.

Bradhs - if you have a 9000 (as your profile shows), this problem doesn't apply to you.

It is a 9700 OS build problem.

That's exactly how I store numbers, and I do have the SMS bug (on.344)

I've seen posts on it before but never had the problem with my 8900 but once I go to perform the update on my 9700 it says that no changes are required. Any ideas or input?

I have the newest BB Desktop Mgr and Win7 Ultimate if that matters. This is the first update I've tried to do since going from Vista Ultimate...
