Default Verizon MR1 - Sept 15

Please Login to Remove!

Classify this as a rumor if you will, but Engadget is reporting (via BlackberryOS) that MR1 (Maintenance Release 1?) for the Tour is due out Sept-15. Hopefully this will resolve all of your muffled voice, left right trackball, slow reboot issues and make unicorns appear and spit gold coins out of the speaker slot.

Leaked Verizon docs point to October launch for Storm 2, Motorola Sholes, LG VX8575

Hopefully it's not 4.7.1.42 ... because that build is as crappy as .40

The software being tested is not 42. That is a fact. Now on the date I have no idea on that yet. I would think it would be more towards the end of the month?

What I am testing is in house. (for Rim and Verizon) I can not say at this time what it is. Sorry. Once it gets leaked by some one than I will confirm what I have if the time is right? What I can say is the track ball works a lot better almost perfect and the phone seems to have more memory.

Can you report if the build you're testing resolves the signal issues with the phone? If you're not aware, there have been reports of low or wildly fluctuating signal strength resulting in dropped calls.

I got my Tour 1 week after launch. I can report very few issues. Never had a dropped call yet, the track ball works as advertised and no memory issues. I HAVE had the long reboot times, as much as 10 minutes and I have had issues syncing the phone to my TomTom GO730 and my laptop but no issues with Bluetooth to my Jawbone. Any official update will be appreciated.

even .42 resolves issues on the trackball.

ANYthing is rumor for Verizon releases. Does anyone recall the six month wait they went through to update the OS for the 9530 Storm?

I am testing a Verizon official release. But I don't make the decision if it will be released and when. So far it's working really well. Let’s hope it keeps doing well and everyone will be able to have it.

getting back into the BB scene myself since having a BB Pearl 3 years ago. GF just bought a Tour and we are having the trackball issues scrolling right. She NEEDS a working phone, and Sept 15th is just around the corner. Don't want to go back to her LG Venus that was replaced 3 times and still has issues.

Will this maintence be a physical replacement or software updates? I have not read a definate answer to what is the cause of the scrolling issue. If it's physical, we will return the phone and wait until the hardware is fixed. if it is software we will keep the phone and wait for the new update.

Does it fix the muffled sound from the mic or is that a hardware issue?

OH, that, its just an OS upgrade, it won't be a physical replacement or upgrade, just software.

I understood that OS .42 did NOT fix the trackball scrolling left problems.

Wirelessly posted

Major misinformation here.

.42 is a great build - stable, no apparent problems.

And the trackball problem is not software - it's a component manufacturing flaw.
