Default Got my Pearl unlocked for free (Cingular)

Please Login to Remove!

I saw someone had sent an email to [email address] to request a code and got one, so I did the same. Just sent them the following:

Phone - Cingular Blackberry Pearl 8100
IMEI #
Phone number
Cingular Account #

Then I added a little paragraph explaining I had been a Cingular customer for a while and was traveling out of the country for business and needed a code. I sent that on April 17th. I got a response email on the 23rd saying thanks for the inquiry and that they will request the unlock code for me from Blackberry and will give it to me as soon as it's available. (Confused, because I thought they came from the provider, not the manufacturer.)

Then today I got an email with my unlock code and my IMEI to verify it was correct when I sent it. Also included step by step instructions on how to unlock. The code worked perfectly the first time and now I'm good to go.

Just thought I'd pass it on for others. The emails go to a NCCS-Subsidy Unlock Group. I have no idea what that is, but they worked for me!

I did the same way with T-Mobile and told them that I was leaving the country for awhile. They sent my unlock code three days later.

Question, is the email address in the first post blocked? I can still see it but somebody told me it was blocked by admins. Didn't know if maybe I can see it because I started the thread.

Also, if it is blocked, any reason for it? Is this breaking some rule I'm not aware of?

Default Cool idea

Just hung up with Cingular customer service. I have to go to europe for my company and will use alternate carrier. This saves me having to rent a phone as I have done before. Thanks for the post

The same thing happened to me. I called customer service and after talking to three people they told me I would get an email with the unlock code. (Nobody at any point was saying "no" to my request. The first person just wasn't familiar with what you had to do and incorrectly transferred me to an international department.)

The next day I got an email with the unlock code.

1 Insert Cingular SIM into device

2 Power phone on and Turn off the radio (Turn Wireless Off option) VERY IMPORTANT.

3 Select "Options" and then "Advanced Options"

4 Scroll down and select "SIM Card"

5 Type "MEPD" (multitap means this will be typed in [M] [ER] [OP] [OP] [DF])

6 Type "MEP2" (multitap means this will be typed in [M] [ER] [OP] [OP] alt [TY])

7 Enter the Unlock Code

8 Press enter

9 Reboot device. Device is now unlocked.
