Default Phone shuts off and needs reset

Please Login to Remove!

Twice, the battery has died on me while the phone still had a full bar. Last time I was playing Word Mole but it also happened while browsing. After doing a battery pull (only way to make it come alive) the bar still shows 100%.
Any clues ? Bad battery or OS bug ?

Bold 9780
OS 6.0.0.703

please update your profile to show the model number, not the name of the device. There are several different Bold models.

Sounds like a damaged battery. Have you let it rundown past 20% more than a few times?

The model number is Bold 9780, running OS 6.0.0.703.
I'll try and let it go below 20% charge level, IF I manage to, that is if it doesn't die on me before. However, if the battery was totally discharged, why would it come alive again after a hard reset ??

No, the point is to NOT let it run down past 20% because that is bad for the battery.

Got your point. I never let the battery go down any lower than 60%. And yet it keeps dying on me....
It has to be said though that RIM advises to let it discharge almost Completely once in a while.

Anyone who "advises to let is discharge almost Completely once in a while" is operating on old information. Doing that is bad for modern batteries.

Sounds like maybe the battery is bad.

Well, you need to make sure that you have a proper battery made for the device. I always recommend an OEM product rather than a cheap knock off. I hope you purchased a good one.

Well, I got the best deal I could find on Amazon UK. Around $25. But the ad said "OEM battery". Can't help but trust them.
It'll be fun to see how it behaves. I just don't knoW what I'm gonna do in case the new battery misbehaves as well... Get a new Bold 9900 ?? Wish I could.
Stay tuned for more info.
By the way, battery charge level is down to 35% and, touch wood, nblack screen so far...
