Default Vacation: Emails deleted from Blackberry still show up on PC

Please Login to Remove!

One of our user reports, "I was on vacation last week and all the email I deleted from my Blackberry I had to delete from my PC when I got back this morning".

The BB was setup for wireless email synchronization, so I'm not sure why he would have this issue.

We are a Lotus Notes and BES environment.

Any ideas???

Depends on how they deleted the items from the device.
For example, if they simply chose a date, and then chose 'Delete Prior'.. the messages would only be deleted from the handheld.

You need to find out exactl what the user's actions were on the handheld. My guess is this will be impossible for you to determine. ;)

...and verify that the Delete On setting didn't get changed somehow.

This problem is exactly why I came here today. I'm having the same issue (Exchange) with my users and after investigation I've found the the delete 9on setting is going back to 'handheld' when it was formerly saved as 'mailbox & handheld'.

After talking to RIM support they advised this can only happen when the desktop cmime is deleted or if the device is wiped. After a second call another RIM rep advised it can also happen when a service book expires.

So my question is with users who go on vacation (aka out of service range) how can I tell on the BES how long until their service book may expire?

I apreesh any input on this.

Damn you're smart. Thanks for the tip. I never knew that "Delete Prior" only does it on the handheld. How did you figure that out? I guess the quick reference doesn't tell you everything, and the user guide it too big.

I am an admin of 2000 BB
I have the email set to prompt
this way the user doesnt get to lazy

Ideal setting in my 7 years would be have them Prompt to delete off mailbox and handheld

If you have legato in your environment you can get the messages back for the user

I'm not the admin, more of the end user side, but mainly I have the BB set to "Delete On" prompt also.
