Default 7105T w/ Plantronics Voyager 510

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my Blackberry 7105T last week, and so far am extremely frustrated with the bluetooth headset. When it works, it works great, but half the time it doesn't work. I have it paired with a Plantronics Voyager 510. When I initiate a call, sometimes it connects to my headset, and other times it doesn't. The icon on the phone flashes bluetooth, and then goes back to the phone. If I hit the trackwheel, and choose to activate the headset, it does nothing. If I try to transfer the call to the headset by pushing the button on the headset, it disconnects, so I know there is communication. It doesn't seem to matter whether I am making or receiving a call. I use the buttons on the phone for everything, I rarely ever touch the headset. At first, I thought it was the blackberry, so T-mobile replaced it, but that didn't solve the problem. I called Plantronics, and they have no clue. They are sending me a replacement headset. We'll see what happens. Another example, I can place a call, and it does not transfer to my headset, I can disconnect that call, try again, exact same way, and then it will work. Sometimes it takes 3-4 times before it picks up. The phone is only 1 week old.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!!

Thanks.

Interesting. My 510 doesn't behave like that at all but I've only used it with the 7290 and 8700c. It could be a defective unit. Another possibility is the version of the handheld software on your device. If the replacement 510 doesn't fix the issue, check the version of your handheld's OS and see what alternatives you have to install.

Ashish, I have been using the 510 for several weeks now, and I find it works very well. I have run into some issues occassionally. I agree with takeshi, you should probably be using the latest handheld OS on your 7105. Don't overlook hardbooting your BB. I've seen BT devices act weird and rebooting often fixes the problem.

Hang in there. I review a lot of BT devices for our company, and so far, I think the 510 is the best one I've come across.

Anyone know what BT headset Brad Pitt had on in the car in the movie, Mr. and Mrs. Smith?

Thanks for the advice, they are supposed to be "overnighting" me a replacement 510. I've been waiting more than a week for it so far. I know its not the handset, because I've gotten it replaced already. The software version is 4.0249, which is the latest US release. I'll let you know if the problem gets solved.

Thanks.

I finally gave up on the 510, and replaced it with a Jabra BT250, used it yesterday, and it worked. We'll see how today goes before I am convinced...Plantronics agreed to buy back the 510, so thats good customer service, I suppose.

Thanks for everyone's help!
