Question Have Storm, Need to Switch - Recommendations?

Please Login to Remove!

I have had my Storm2 for about a year and I need to move away from it. It's too heavy and the lack of physical keyboard just doesn't fit me. It has good traits too but it's just not working out for me.

I have Verizon. Does anyone have a recommendation of one of their other phones? I've noticed that other carriers have some of these with model numbers that are higher. I don't know the differences.

Can I get OS6 on any of these?

Should I wait?

Or I could switch completely away from Blackberry and go Droid. Not sure.

I can switch carriers too.

I'm open to all opinions. Thanks!

If you don't mind switching, then get the Torch on AT&T. The device is great, the browser is as good as the iPhone browser and you get both touchscreen and keyboard.

How's Verizon service been working for you? Coverage should be your #1 consideration when choosing a carrier. Switching for a particular handset is rarely a good idea.

How's BlackBerry working for you? Choose the device that best fits your own individual needs. If you want multimedia and don't care so much about professional-grade communications, Android is the way to go. Any of the Droids would be good choices. Or you could wait a month or two and get the iPhone when it hits Verizon. But if you're happy with your BlackBerry and rely heavily on email, stick with it. Get the 9650 on Verizon.

I do agree with Rambo. I wouldn't switch carriers just for a device unless I am sure that the new carrier is as good (or better) than my existing carrier.

While I have no experience with the Droids I can tell you that the multimedia capability of the Torch is excellant. I have all my songs on it and watch movies on it quite frequently. I also stream Youtube clips to it and rarely have an issue.

And, of course, as Rambo said, it still has RIMs legendary email and calendaring.

Carrier coverage is the main consideration then the device. I would do some research before doing anything.

If your looking to stay with the touchscreen and Verizon, your BlackBerry choices are limited to the Storm. But it sounds like you don't want the touchscreen. Give the Bold 9650 a whirl. Otherwise, I would recommend the Torch 9800 at AT&T. Word is the Storm 3 is coming in the near future so you may want to wait for that. Good luck.

I am new to BB, but am on Verizon and just got a 9650,,,,and really like it. My kids both have Droid 2's, and love those. I needed email and txt, so went to with BB...In my area, upstate NY....Verizon is the best,,,,so just be careful if switching carriers,,,we had ATT, but in our area,,,it was horrible!!!!!!!

My wife gets the storm 2 tomorrow free through work, she had a old BB...not sure how that will work for her
