Default OS: 9000 5.0.0.1728/5.0.0.1067 (All Languages)

Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone
This will install to any carriers 9000 Bold by following the directions below.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1728 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.1728
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 5.0.0.1067
  • Software Platform: 5.2.0.89
  • File name: 9000M_PBr5.0.0_rel1728_PL5.2.0.89_A5.0.0.1067_AT_T .exe
  • File size: 126.02MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

This build is working fine for me so far. I haven't noticed any significant difference in performance but it's only been 24 hours. Only 3rd party apps I have loaded are Opera Mini, Google Maps, BBweather, BBprotect.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this build seems to lock onto GPS location quicker. After loading this OS, sitting inside my house, I started up Google Maps. 30 sec to 1 min later, it had me mapped to within 3 meters. With previous build, it took close to 5min to do the same.

Should I remove my 3rd-party theme before upgrading or does it not matter?

Thanks.

I did the install (with a MAC) last night. Everything went fine. I can't see much difference from 4.6 yet.

My third party apps are NY Times, AP, Pocketday (+ sports), google maps, google sync, open table, tripit, and gps logger.

Memory leak problems are still there, but at a much lower level. Nothing has gone wrong at all.

Apploader indicates this is a downgrade. The platform number is lower on this version, 5.2.0.89, vs 5.2.0.93 on the 5.0.0.1036 version. Any thoughts?

Memory leaks here, damn! Is any one know stable 5.0 version I can download? Thinking about downgrade to 4.6 where I had 35mb of Flash memory instead of 17-20mb in 5.0 !

You might look at any third party apps for that leak instead of the OS. This has been very stable for me and the apps I run. (gmaps, bbweather, Opera mini 6, bb protect)

Installed the new OS wirelessly and although some memory loss, my real problem is that i can send but not recieve emails. I have only a single msn email account linked to my device.

I requested the service books and then got an email saying that my account had been activated but i have received countless emails on my various computers and not a single other one on my 9000. Anyone have a clues how to resolve this???
