BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.1907 (Multilanguage)
This release will work on any carrier's device by following the directions below.

Package Version: 6.0.0.1907
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 6.0.0.448
  • Software Platform: 6.4.0.210
  • File name: 9800M_PBr6.0.0_rel1907_PL6.4.0.210_A6.0.0.448_3_UK .exe
  • File size: 169.92MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...FA661ED1244039

Instructions for installing on the 9800:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Within hours of beta .448 becoming available for download, beta .450 became available. I guessed that .448 would be overlooked in favour of .450. Aparently not.

Hopefully those with experiences with both then will hash out the differences between .448 and .450 here for the rest of us (other than .02 ;). I've been on .450 and am cool with it, but maybe there's something more with .448?

Does it support Greek? how can I determine if a language is supported BEFORE trying the update?

I am on .450 also and it has been working just fine.
Probably just the case that .448 was our first so the mobile company (in the UK?) started and completed its testing on it and determined it was OK. With just a .002 change, I cannot imangine that anything fundamentally is different.

Am I missing something?? When I click on the download link, it gives me the following information (copied directly from the web page and pasted here):

Software For BlackBerry® Torchxxx8482; 9800 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.695 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 6.0.0.695
Consisting of:
Applications: 6.0.0.246
Software Platform: 6.4.0.105
File name: 9800M_PBr6.0.0_rel695_PL6.4.0.105_A6.0.0.246_3_UK. exe
File size: 161.7MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

None of this matches the version information in the top of this thread.

NEVERMIND.....YOU HAVE TO SCROLL DOWN AFTER GETTING TO THE DOWNLOAD PAGE.

I had downloaded the software, run in the PC, delete the vendor.xml file, then connect the Torch and start update. However I received error message "one or two modules could not be resolved" and the process end. Any suggestion for me to proceed? my PC OS is windows vista. Thanks.

Running .450 and find that the suretype is still terrible. Many words are mis-spelled, or completely missed despite hitting the correct keys.

Default I Like It So Far

Installed yesterday morning. Seems nice and stable so far. I notice a major increase in the accuracy of the virtual keypad. I am able to type much faster on it now.

When trying to invite others to a BBM conversation, I am only able to select contacts with the touch pad, not on the screen. I can highlight the contact by touching it, but cannot check them off unless I click on the touch pad. Anyone else experiencing this?

Dont use DM, use "Loader.exe" same location with the vendor.xml

Any issues with pulling in signal on this build? I have been on .450 for a month which has worked well, but I am loosing signal in weak signal areas frequently where previously this was occurring only ocasionally.

I'm having issues with my GPS now...

My device takes a very long time to pinpoint my location and then when it does it is significantly wrong.

Anyone else?

@jimfraser -- My signal strength does not seem to have been affected.

Downgraded to .448 from .450. Initial indication is that .448 is no better than .450 in pulling in weak signals. I frequently get no signal or sos when in a marginal signal areas. In fact I was stuck on sos after installing .448 and had to move to a different location where there was a minimal signal with Rogers in order to get the BES initialized.
May be that Bell has improved its fairly new HSPA network so much that it overwhelms the much older Roger's GSM/HSPA network.

If you have an old sim card this could be consistant with your SOS and low signal another that that I have been noticing is that Rogers has been having some 3G issues in the ONT area with everyone on the 3g network
if you have a SIM card that starts like 8930272030xxxxxxxxxx then get a replacement sim card and try again.
if your sim card shows 8930272040xxxxxxxxxx then it is a current SIM card that should help.

other option you could try is downgrading to the 2G network and see how it works from there

Unlimited data on BES

I'm on AT&T if that helps anyone help me.

My sim is 8930272040xxxxxxxxxx, so it is not a sim card issue. With .448 and .450, in two far apart weak signal areas, I am frequently getting sos, which I assume is Bell and not Rogers. I have switched from 3g only to 2g 3g, and at least I get edge from Rogers.
