Default Os 6.0?

Please Login to Remove!

A 6.0 OS has been developed for the Tour.

Does anyone have an idea if this will apply to all Blackberry models or just the Tour.

I haven't heard of OS 6.0 yet. However, with any OS, it will only apply to the device it was made for. If it was the Tour 9630, then it will only work on the 9630. If it is for the new Tour 2 (soon to be released and possibly renamed) 9650, then it will only apply to the 9650.

I don't think we'll see it on the 9650 as launched.

I'm surprised I'm the first to link to

BlackBerry OS 6.0 Screenshots and Details - Rim - Gizmodo

which has been up all day.

Saw that, looks pretty nice. However, it seems like it and the browser should really run on a touch screen. I can't see it working as well without one.

Given that the leaks seem like they will have come from the slider which is a touchscreen, we can't really know how it will work on devices without a touchscreen until we get leaks from one of those. In the past rim has been criticised that they didn't do enough to optimise their os for touchscreen and now they seem to have done that we have people complaining based on no evidence that they won't have considered their non-touchscreens.

Cool, looks like tabbed browsing finally. I still think I'll be keeping Opera.

Any word if the new browser includes memorizing login information like Opera Mini?

The article claims that the os will be out in the marker in June/July 100%. I Hope that's true, because for os 5.0, everybody kept saying a date and it came out like 3 months later.

We have already seen a full article about it on Gizmodo, including a walkthrough of the whole system and screenshots

And so it begins again.. We'll see it when it gets leaked/released but not sooner and no one can say with certainty..

We've seen this OS 4.5 and 5.0, loooooong waits, I doubt we will have an official before Sept/Oct maybe Nov this time..

Os6 will show up on time, it will show up on new hardware, the big question is when or even if it will show up for older devices.

We don't actually even know for certain if existing devices will get 6.0 at all, the 9650 got its memory boosted to 512 during development so it might be that is required for optimal use of os6. Hopefully, they will at least do something to get everyone the webkit browser, but we don't know for sure if they will.

You maybe right as the reviewer from PhoneScoop was reviewing the phone at WES and mentioned it was v.5.0.

Quote from PhoneScoop:
The user interface is identical to the previous Bold and Tour, using BlackBerry OS 5.0. I bounced around inside the OS for a while and didn't notice anything new or exciting.

Time will tell in regards to v.6 and the 9650.
