Thumbs up OS: 9000 Bold 4.6.0.517/4.6.0.297 (ATT Official Release)

Please Login to Remove!

THE AT&T LINK which had previously been suspended is back working as of 23 Sept 2009
The new ATT version has a higher Platform version .517

Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone
This will load for ANY carrier's BlackBerry Bold 9000, by following the instructions below.
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.508 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.517
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.297
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.247
* File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel517_PL4.0.0.247_A4.6.0.297_AT_am p_T.exe
* File size: 96.79MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
Download the OS file here:

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

The previous OS is here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

For many people doing the install OTA will be a new experience. There may be reasons that you prefer to use DM. Here are my top three - remove preloaded pics and music, use BBM 5 and avoid reinstalling Doc to Go Premium.

It's amazing that this release hasn't been leaked or found "in the wild." How did ATT manage to keep it locked up, with all the people who must have been beta testing it for them?

Does anyone know if 297 confers any significant advantages over 282, which, of course, has all the same features? Or doesn't it?

The part in green where it says if you want to keep bbm 5, then install the os using desktop manager. Can you use loader.exe or does it have to be desktop manager.

Loader is fine if you have managed the java folders correctly.

You will have to put the BBM 5 files in the java folder of the OS in lieu of the 4.6 BBM files.

Like other OS releases can the vendor code be deleted for Rogers phones or is this VVM exclusive to AT&T?

Not sure but I don't think ATT VVM will work on the Rodgers network. Should work on a Rogers phone on the ATT network though.

Of course all of this will be mute, when my 9700 comes shortly.

Am I correct in thinking that even though this is the official AT&T release it can be applied to other provider's units as long as the Vendor file is removed?

Thanks.

The file will be the Multilanguage version.

But you can always place the japanese language cods in the OS Java folder
