Smile Help with Policy

Please Login to Remove!

I have BES 4.1 for Exchange, Exchange 2003 sp1 and a BB with 4.0 on it and it's a 7750 model.

What I am trying to do, everytime I send a damn email from my BB, it shows is as sent on my device. I diabled the option to save the sent back to my desktop. What I would like is to simply see in my inbox is my messages and not also when I send...can someone help me or help me where to look..is this a device setting or possibly a BES policy?

There is also a setting on the BES server that can control this setting.

Auto more
Keep messages

You will want to download the latest firmware for your model. We had this same issue with some of the older 7250's we had but after updating them to the latest, it now has that option. Check with your vendor or on Blackberry's web site for a latest version.

That option does not appear until 4.1 handheld code. Make sure you get your handhelds up and you will be fine.

You can set that option on the BES, but you shouldnt. A lot of people like it, even if you dont. Upgrade your own firmware and you'll be able to disable it.

Even if he wants (or have the BES admin set it), this particular setting can be altered at the user level if using the Desktop Manager is not an option.

If I read this correctly, I think this a simple folder redirection issue.

Messages -> Options -> Email settings -> push in trackwheel and go to folder redirection -> Uncheck 'sent'

This will disable sent messages from going to your device that are sent from your desktop

Well I checked my provider and My BB has the latest version, which is 4.0.21 so I am screwed there. I am thinking if I can do it by policy, I will simply create a policy on the server and only add me to it..that should work right? ANy thoughts? Anyone know exactly where to look to create this policy option?

Hiding Sent Messages is a 4.1+ feature. Since you have 4.0, you cannot do it on the device level.

Creating IT policys can be done through the BES Manager. If you are unsure on where to find it, I would read up on documentation before messing with it.

See my above post... you must have 4.1. and since 4.0 is less than 4.1, it wont work. 4.1 has been out for any device made in the last 2 years for a while now, its a free download. You are not screwed. Update your devices before you go messing with policy, or you are gonna have to pay big bucks for someone like me or Zharin to come fix your stuff one day for you ;)
